Yeah the actor playing Sonny Red was the best thing in the movie in my opinion. Scary guy.

That was weird the way they kind of made Bruno look like a brat. Funny though.
Yeah, best casting of the movie besides Depp and Pacino. That guy had a genuine wiseguy face. Reminded me of Barzini in the Godfather.

did he die at home or was he locked up? i lost track of that indictment of his crew what..5, 6 years ago? i know there was a mistrial, and if there wasnt, most would be free now anyway, but did anyone actually get locked up because of that? seemed like a real grind it out type of crew

what happened to that girl who used to write about santora a lot. she was a gf of his i think. got caught sending pics to Basciano in jail. she had some funny stories about santora like him stealing from the collection plate at church as a little kid

Santora wasn't tried again after the mistrial because of his poor health. Everybody else took pleas. Acting capo Ernest Aiello served mere months, Vito Badamo slightly longer, and Anthony Santoro is due out shortly.

awesome thanks for the info. good for him for dying a free man i guess.

was Aiello acting capo for Santora or someone else? wasnt Badamo also acting capo for Santora at some point? forget his name I think its Siano or Sinino...the youngest kid in the case..his family owns/manages a few apartment buildings in Williamsburg which is where these guys operate. which is my guess as to how the kid got involved with the crew at such a young age, he was in his early 20s at the time of the arrest with the investigation going back to when he was like 17 or 18. wonder if that kid jumped in with both feet after, or if this indictment scared him away

Vito Badamo was acting capo for Santora - it was established on tape that Santora was grooming Badamo as his successor. Aiello was almost 100% an acting capo for a Bronx crew, but the wording in the indictment (I believe) seemed to indicate that he reported to Santora. What I get from that is that Santora was in some sort of administration position at the time, which makes sense all things considered.

Yeah the portrayal of Bruno was just strange, they tried to paint him as soft.. I guess they had to make the audience dislike the guy though. Personally I didn't care for most of the movie cause I just couldn't buy Depp in the role. Great actor but not for that role, every time he did the tough guy act it was cringey.

Agree totally about Depp.

I feel the same way about DiCaprio in The Departed (that part where he beat up the two burly Patriarca enforcers in the Indian guy's shop defied the laws of physics).
My problem is I hate everybody.

 Don't get me started, plus the whole "You fellas from Providence?" bit before he beat them up. No way in Hell have two connected guys from Providence headed all the way to Southie to extort the owner of a convenience store. Thank God Scorcese didn't put DiCaprio in "The Irishman".. Now that's a movie I have faith in, excited for that one.

YOU SELLING CANNOLIS OR SOMETHING?!?!!?

I actually like that movie quite a lot, but some parts of it here and there were extremely fruity.

I think Depp did a fine job. He perfectly mimicked Pistone's voice and accent. You would hardly hear a difference on tape.

And Pacino WAS Lefty.

Michael Madsen was a bad choice. Way too Irish looking and he portayed Sonny Black as an intimidating asshole.

Suppodedly DiCaprio will be playing Tony Montana in the Scarface remake.

Depp.did a MUCH better job in Black Mass compared to Brasco.

I think Depp looked ridiculous in Black Mass.

Idk man it sounded so forced especially when he was chewing out his agent buddy "ill cut your fuckin throat" gimme a break.

now pacino as lefty, well that was a legendary performance. saved the movie tbh.

I didn't like Madsen for the same reasons, he didn't look Italian enough.

This is the stupidest comment ever.
Italians have all diffrnet looks as do most nationalites .
I am sicilian and people say to me constantly “u dont look like yur sicilian “ i wanna say well asshole i am the spitting image of my father who came here from sicily.

Most sicilians are not as dark as people think . Olive skin is much more common
