Michael Mancuso is in a halfway house and, as we know from Anthony Graziano, mobsters can easily command the streets from a halfway house. The important thing here is that Mancuso is living in Brooklyn - Sunset Park, precisely - and he is free during the day to roam the streets of New York, although presumably at some kind of legitimate employment. He'll officially be released from the halfway house on March 12, 2019.

There was clearly some bad blood between Mancuso and Cammarano in 2015, since Mancuso's guy - Palazzolo - was allegedly prepping for war against Cammarano. But, probably begrudgingly, Mancuso accepted Cammarano as acting boss and gave his blessing following Palazzolo's lockup.
But since the indictment of Cammarano Jr., we're completely in the dark of what's happening on the street in the Bonannos. Mancuso could have completely regained control and put another lackey in charge. Cammarano Jr. could have placed a friend of his in charge - after all, he was only on house arrest. The answer is probably somewhere in the middle. Who knows.

Asaro almost undoubtedly has no sway whatsoever in the family following his 2014 indictment. He was a capo/ruling panel member for a brief period of time, and during that time he managed to singlehandedly - albeit accidentally - create an indictment against himself and his boss, Tommy DiFiore, by blabbing about DiFiore to Gaspare Valenti. And not not only did Asaro get DiFiore indicted, he was caught on tape calling DiFiore a scumbag, among other things, despite DiFiore promoting him to capo/ruling panel. When DiFiore was indicted, he used his attorneys to tear Asaro a new one. His anger at Asaro was loud and clear.

Following Asaro's stunning acquittal - DiFiore must have been tearing his hair out at that one - the elderly mobster didn't attend Joe Cammarano Jr.'s Christmas party/captain's meeting, despite essentially all capos in the family on the street attending. By this time, Cammarano Jr. had Mancuso's blessing and support as acting boss. Does this mean that Asaro was "laying low" and avoiding heat? No, since he attended a Genovese family Christmas party. It was also around this time that Asaro's nephew, Ronnie G, began being referred to as an official capo, with Michael Padavona being his acting capo through 2016 when Giallanzo was locked up on a parole violation. Then, when Asaro indicted again, he was indicted as a soldier, meaning he had been demoted as capo.
