Those video gaming machines are pretty lucrative....

Interesting how gambling has so quickly become such a big money maker for the crime groups in Italy. While it's been the biggest racket for the American mob since the end of Prohibition, for years gambling seemed to be a relatively minor racket for the guys across the Atlantic.

The sicilians also control the migrant trafficking- smuggling routes.

What would you rather have, sportsbooks, or gambling machines? I think the machines might reach a wider customer base. Any average joe ( or average Guiseppe, wink..) can play a slot.

But you dont have the weekly juice like with gambling. But with machines you kinda have a more reliable, a more b asnkable income It seems...

Any thoughts?

In terms of profit, the American mob as a whole makes far more money from bookmaking. You could add up all the money from other forms of gambling (video poker machines, numbers, card games) and it would only be a fraction of the sports betting.

I can't provide a black and white answer. Members of other families didn't 'transfer' or 'secretly join' the Corleonesi, they were allied with them in a vested mutual interest. By the accounts of Messina they expected to keep their autonomy but after a certain point, they were turned on as well.
