Thanks. I've updated it.

I've also added Thomas "Tommy" Ocera (1989) and Jilly Greca (1980) for the Colombos.

Also, just looking at what's been listed so far for the NYC families:

12 Luccheses

28 Colombos

24 Bonannos

24 Gambinos

23 Genoveses

There are probably a few more per family that we can come up with and there could be quite a few more that we'll never know because they were never confirmed as members of a particular family (especially pre-1930s), but you have to figure four of the families should in theory have a cap that is at least 30 members smaller than it was when they were established. For the Gambinos and Genovese that is one thing, but pretty crazy to think at what a big hit the Colombos' cap has possibly taken.

Aside from the cases where they falsified names to make new members, it also seems unlikely that the families have been able to keep a successful count of murdered members who count against their cap, especially in the past three or four decades. It's probably irrelevant at this point anyway given that they have a smaller pool to recruit from. Still something to think about when we're discussing the sizes of families today, though. Some of them might be smaller than they used to be not just because of the usual reasons, but because they've had over a hundred years of murders thinning the cap (again, in theory).

Okay, I am going to try and run through the rest of Chicago and just toss some names on there with a sort of yay or nay vote from myself.

Antilliar should be able to weigh in on some of the older ones as well as add some more names.

Jack McGurn (1936) YES
Sam Costello (1938) YES
Lawrence Mangano (1944) YES
Nicholas DeJohn (1947) YES
Leonard Caifano (1951) YES (Are we including non-LCN murders here? Lenny was killed by black policy gangsters.)
Charles Gioe (1954) YES
Frank Maritote (1954) MAYBE (Not sure if he was a made guy or just a bodyguard)
Paul Labriola (1954) YES
Dominick Galiano (1966) YES
Gerald Covelli (1967) NO (not made)
Michael Albergo (1970) NO (not made)
Sam Cesario (1971) YES (Very possible that he was a made guy. I believe he was on some membership lists from the late sixties.)
Guido Fidanzi (1972) MAYBE (Possibly made)
Louis Bombacino (1974) MAYBE (Not sure if he was made but he's listed on some membership charts from the sixties. Always seemed pretty small fry to me, though.)
Sam Marcello (1974) NO (Jimmy Marcello's father; not made)
Chris Cardi (1975) NO (probably not made)
Gerald Carusiello (1979) MAYBE (He may have been made but this may have been an external beef as well)
Sam Guzzino (1981) NO (not made)
Patsy Ricciardi (1985) MAYBE (It's possible he was made, although he was mainly just a guy who owned some Outfit-connected porno theaters, he did hang around with Phil Alderisio and friends back in the sixties)
Michael Spilotro (1986) NO (not made)

Leonardo Coppola & Giuseppe Turano murdered along with Galante were also made members.

I think it's likely that at least one of them was, but I've never seen anything that confirms it.

Turano was supposedly a cousin of Galante which I'm not sure of either, but the Turanos were definitely from Castellammare. There is an Antonio Coppola and possibly other Coppolas who are/were members of the family in Castellammare, so I've wondered if Leonardo was related to them and Castellammarese himself. I suspect that he is.

Someone involved with Joe and Mary's Italian restaurant was identified by as a Bonanno soldier, probably a reference to Turano. Leonard Coppola might have been made, haven't seen confirmation either way.

B. wrote:This idea is pretty big and it's impossible to ever get a correct count, but I was thinking about how families aren't supposed to make new members in place of members who have been murdered (though this rule has been broken).
Do you know which of the NY Families were known to have broken this rule? Seems to have been followed closely, post-1950s at least.

Some Bonannos 1968-2000s:

- Michael 'Mikie Pip' Consolo (Capodecina; 64y) (April 1, 1968)

- Frank 'Frankie T.' Mari (Underboss; 43y) (September 18, 1969)

- Michael Adamo (Consigliere; 59y) (September 18, 1969)

- Nicholas Castello (Soldier; 39y) (December 28, 1971) [Unsanctioned; Killed by girlfriend]

* - Vito Licata (Soldier?; 37y) (March 2, 1972) [Disagreement on membership]

* - Pietro Sciara (Soldier?; 60y) (February 14, 1976) [Montreal; was this guy an actual made Bonanno?]

- Pietro Licata (Capodecina; 69y) (November 3, 1976)

- Paolo Violi (Former Acting Capodecina; 45y) (January 22, 1978)

- Joseph Crispo (Soldier; 64y) (January 29, 1978)

- Salvatore 'Sally Blind' Frascone (Soldier; 43y) (September 22, 1978) [Unsanctioned]

- Carmine Galante (Acting Boss; 69y) (July 12, 1979)
- Giuseppe Turano (Soldier; 47y) (July 12, 1979)

- Dominick Trinchera (Capodecina; 44y) (May 5, 1981)
- Alfonse Indelicato (Capodecina; 54y) (May 5, 1981)
- Philip Giaccone (Capodecina; 59y) (May 5, 1981)

- Dominick Napolitano (Capodecina; 51y) (August 17, 1981)

- Anthony Mirra (Soldier; 54y) (February 18, 1982)

- Antonino 'Nino' Busciglio (Soldier; 54y) (March 1983) [Might have been done by the DeCavs on the sneak]

- Cesare Bonventre (Capodecina; 33y) (April 3/4, 1984)

- Gabriel Infanti (Capodecina; 52y) (December 17, 1987)

- Russell Mauro (Soldier; 52y) (May 1991)

- Giuseppe 'Big Joe' LoPresti (Acting Capodecina; 44y) (April 29, 1992)

- Salvatore 'Sally Horse' Tozzi (Soldier; 47y) (1993) [Unsanctioned; Massino suspected Joe 'Giganti' (Benanti?)]

- Gerlando Sciascia (Capodecina; 65y) (March 18, 1999)

- Anthony Seccafico (Soldier; 46y) (July 2, 2009)

I'm not sure when they made the rule but the NY families are not allowed to replace any of their own members they kill.
All roads lead to New York.
