That "flip flop them" story he tells is such a good one.
Is that story on patreon? I don’t recall it on the YouTube shows and I think I’ve seen all of them.
I'm not sure if it was a public one or not...I think it was on his Jackie nose show. Gist of the story is theyre at the Ravenite and John is furious at Damico for whatever reason and he walks out, points at michael and says you two are flip flopping basically that hes taking Jackie down and promoting Michael lol. Seeing michael tell it makes it much more interesting of course.
Scars has a great podcast, although recently RJ has been saying a lot of the historians and researchers of LCN are very into "whos more powerful" superhero debates, and that he believes it doesn't work like that. Its a little irritating as the real research guys on here barely do that, if ever. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure RJ was the one coming at LCN from a lens of who was more powerful, who was his favorite, who he idolized, especially early on. Now he's like I'm just here to analyze.

Yeah, i have a hard time with the constant reference to being a researcher or historian...reading a bunch of books and being a hobbyist on LCN doesnt necessarily qualify you as a historian in my eyes.

The guy has actually said multiple times on camera that he's read everything there is to read about this genre. He still thinks Carlo Gambino definitely had Anastasia killed, calls the Colombos a community college vs the Gambinos which are apparently Harvard? And that Lucky Luciano invented the Commission. To just think of the time the guys on here have put in, from combing through files, sharing notes and THEN proposing possibilities...to what he calls research which is just reading Sammy's book and Junior Gotti's book and then saying yeah I know all there is to know about the Gambinos. Oh yeah and thus LCN as a whole. Crazy.

Agree 1000%, I don’t watch these YouTube shows often but the few times I’ve checked out Scars I turn it off after that guy says something ridiculous and it’s clear he has no clue what he’s talking about. It’s embarrassing because he talks like he knows everything there is to know.

Embarrassing and insulting. Especially now that he's implying that he noticed that "the history guys and the research guys" are juvenile in their basic fandom compared to the nuance and truth that he's noticed on his own.
