There is literally nothing to substantiate Black making a move (excluding Massino's say so).
No word, no rumour, no street talk, no heresay about Black assembling a hit team, a plan to clip Massino, not one word on guys to clip Cannone, Vitale etc etc?
Was he just going to drive around Queens with a revolver and clip everyone himself and then declare himself boss?

Literally just off the back of the three Capo's hit the guy walks into a basement unarmed and alone.
And he was making a power play.

He was making his play (or perceived as such by Masino) before Pistone was outted as a Fed. Ditto for Mirra who was already suspected of being an informant years before Pistone was outted and if I remember right was already in hot water for siding with the 3 Capos.

Mirra was in prison in the years leading up to and at the time of Pistone being outted. I'm not recalling it at the moment but didn't Canterella and D'Amico also say Mirra was killed for a being a rat?

This was BEFORE the three captains hit when Rastelli's position was tenuous due to incarceration. It clearly does not mention Sonny making a play for consigliere.
If Massino perceived Black as a threat or making a play. Why wasnt he clipped with the 3 captains?

At the time it was the number two spot since there was no UnderBoss. Besides if Massino coveted the #2 spot and or saw Napoltinao as a threat to him he would phrase it as him making a power play. What is important is how Massino percieved Napolitano and his actions.

1. If Black was clipped for making a play for the consigliere position, not the boss position, then Black was not intending to use violence to obtain the position. His 'play' was to ask Rastelli. You dont clip the consig then ask the boss if you can have it. Why would Rastelli have Black clipped for asking for the consigliere position. No sense. Why would he order Massino to clip Black for wanting #3 admin spot. No sense.

2. Do you really think Black would, without violence, angle for an admin spot post Brasco? Do you honestly think he would view himself in line for a promotion post letting an FBI agent into his crew? No sense. I let a fed into my crew, he took down half my guys, good chance Im going to get upped. Ok.

3. Massino perceived the three Capo's as a threat and clipped them. Why did he not clip Black with them? As I stated earlier the Lefty quote about Massino feuding with Black was from pre the three Capos hit. No sense.

4. He's fueding in a power play with Massino so he walks into a basement unarmed and by himself for a 'meeting' when he participated in the 3 Capo's slaying which was the EXACT same situation. No sense.

To help you guys out, Vincent Rotondo was possibly killed for bringing around Jesse D. Hyman (who turned informant) and introducing him to a bunch of members. It was never really clear who killed him as Sammy Gravano made a video saying it wasn't the Gambino's.

He was acting for Ross Gangi. I'm not sure exactly when he was shelved so he could've been a soldier for a few years after he got out of prison then Barney put him on the shelf.
