Yeah, that's because they feel entitled to the money. Once the guy dies it's open season. No honor among thieves and all that.

That is disgusting!
-
There is a firm RULE, that not only are the families of goodfellowd never to be abused, but on the contrary, for up to 4 generations, other “amici nostri” are to treat them as their own and protect the offspring and extended families, kids, etc..... of “friends”!
-
Of course, as I stated above..... many times they ignore this edict, and in fact abuse guys if they get a chance, but in the “old days” guys could/would get whacked out for that!
-
Today? Lol..... it’s all bullshit! NO TRADITION or honor left ..... by 99% of them, especially younger guys who have never even been taught what I discussed above!
-
Sheer ignorance!

It's true. Read this story about Jerry Scalise of the Cicero crew, Bobby Pullia, and Art Rachel caught when they tried to rob the widow of Angelo "the Hook" La Pietra: https://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Maga ... Last-Gasp/

I am familiar with that story.... and I will tell you that I’ve met Angelo La Pietra several times. I gotta say he was a miserable cocksucker! I real nasty guy!
-
Walked around like he always had a stick up his ass. NEVER fuckin smiled! Nasty mouth and believe me a lot of guys didn’t go for him.
-
But nonetheless, he WAS a top guy for years. You see the respect they had for him right?
-
Soon as he was dead it was like spitting in his face! And at his memory!
-
Years ago, that sort of thing NEVER would have happened. And if I did, it would have been swiftly avenged!
——
Maybe it WAS because like I say he was a guy few liked, but still!
-
PS: if he was alive he would have literally skinned them alive!..... lol. He was a half a nut job!

How old are you Maxie? Meeting LaPietra personally during the 80s, you must be at least 50 or 60 years old lol

I’m older than that. Lol
-
Even though he’s a Chicago guy (I’ve never even been to Chicago - although it’s def on my travel list)
-
I met him several times in the visitors room while I was visiting other guys from NY. I was introduced to him. And right away I got a bad vibe from him. He was a very respected guy, even NYC guys who were somebody treated him cordially. But he had a attitude toward mostly everyone. A grumpy old fuck.
-
I had never heard of him of course being from Chicago. And I’m not sure of his sentence, but I remember hearing that they banged him out with long sentence running wild.... I believe it may have been that casino case. What was that a skimming case or something. He got like two years but they made every count run consecutive so he was doing a lot of time. I’m sure that didn’t help his demeanor any lol.
-
My friends confided in me that they weren’t thrilled about him either...... but of course “tolerated” him.

I was thinking of that..... I’ve visited many facilities I’m sorry to say. Lol
-
I wanna say maybe Danbury (at that time it was a men’s facility - later they made it a women’s prison for awhile).
-
Or possibly Lewisburg or Allenwood. But if I had to pick one I do believe it was either CT or Lewisburg..... in the visiting room.
-
In fact you know who he seemed to be pretty close with was Frank Pasqua who I mentioned in earlier posts.
-
I believe they knew each other well from years again in Chicago..... Pasqua supposedly knew all the Chicago guys very well from doing business there over the years.

In fact I actually met his brother also, and a friend of theirs who accompanied his brother when they visited Angelo in the can...... we exchanged simple hello’s and that was that.

Nothing special believe me! Lol...... for me he was a zero!

Bet that friend of theirs was Jonny Apes Monteleone. Those three stuck together as kids and rose up through the ranks together.

Angelo and Jimmy were Sicilian, which most of that Buccieri/Cicero crew was (all the Grand Ave and Melrose Park italians were Barese or Neapolitan and they held the power in the Outfit for a long time following Capone). Angelo was likely a key emissary for other crime families and a very ruthless juice operator.

I read those wiretaps with Scalise and Rachel talking about robbing his home - sounds like when Angelo came back from the can, he was hated across Chicago.

That's one of the main reasons for which the Outfit had different structure than the rest of the crime families.

Btw wasn't Jimmy LaPietra connected to Casso and the Lukes?

Now you wanna laugh? Read an earlier post I did on Pasqua. It ties in perfectly with you mentioning that LaPietra was caught smuggling food in. The bottom of my post speaks of that very issue! Lol.....about Pasqua, but as I say the two of them were close. So who knows?, maybe they were involved bringing in food together.
-
Now doesn’t that tie in nicely with our conversation!
-
As I’ve said several times before. I don’t lie!

FRANK (BIG FRANK) PASQUA - born NYC in 1923. Resided for many years in the Bronx. Frequented the East Harlem area and Chicago, ILL. FBI #241577B. Described by LE as a
top interstate narcotics trafficker. He operated a NYC to Chicago drug pipeline. Close to several top Chicago mob figures. Has held an interest in a produce trucking firm, and a recording company. Close associates over the years include; Giacomo (Jack) Scarpulla, James (Jimmy Ward) Massi, Rocco Mazzie,Frank Corona and Frank Panatera and Jack Rizzo of Chicago, ILL. (his alleged Chicago contacts). Arrest record for several narcotics related offenses over the years. Served a four year term in 1958, another in 1984 (both narcotics conspiracies). He owned a summer home in Mastic that was badly damaged in a still unsolved arson in 1965. Note: has several sons (Frank and Richard) who joined the mob in later years..... No dod available, but believed to have passed several years ago.
Note: [Frankie was a big guy, who became a pretty fat guy as he got older. He loved his food..... and didn’t care where he was (in jail or out on the street). He had to have his food cravings satisfied. When in the visiting room, we would all crack up with some of his shenanigans. He would have his wife (as many guys would also do), smuggle in foods weekly during family visits. But this guy was nuts! .... one particular time after she was there a few minutes, she slid a pizza (I mean a full-sized 18” pizza) from under her sweatshirt wrapped in plastic-wrap. She had it hidden strapped to her back (she was a large lady herself) Lol..... I was offered a slice (I passed - Lol). Another time she brought in fresh clams (out of the shell of course)....... a very funny and nice guy!]

Who was laughing? Your statement just raised some legitimate concerns with me, that's all. A NY guy introducing an outsider to a high-ranking made guy from Chicago? It just rang some bells, as it would for anyone. Don't take offense.
