I don't want to speculate about the potential membership of a random guy who shows up in photos, and this guy in particular seems too young to have been one of the names anyway, but it does bring to mind the three associates proposed by Merlino from jail who Ligambi didn't want to induct because he didn't know them, saying instead that Merlino could induct them when he got out. Philly and South Jersey are a small world and Ligambi and others at the top of the family at that time (approximately 8 years ago) would have known most if not all of the family's associates in that area, so it makes me wonder if the guys proposed by Merlino were from New York or another area outside of the normal Philly recruitment ground. Merlino has a history of trying to expand the family in areas you wouldn't expect (i.e. Boston), so I'm curious if we'll ever know more about this and if he has continued to reach out to other areas. His business with the Genovese family shows that he was interested in having direct involvement in NYC.

thats a really good point. yeah this kid is way too young to have been one of those names, but your theory makes sense. for somewhere as tight as south philly, who would be from there and in the mix that Merlino knows but Ligambi and the others dont? had to have been guys from outta town

A lot of discussion of whether Merlino is boss, was boss etc. I think clearest sign from the recent cases of whether he was boss or not was the transcript from Nicky Skins of Ligambi holding off on making three guys until Joey gets home. Clearly indicates that Joey makes guys and that the names came from Joey to Ligambi and not Ligambi telling Joey who he planned to make, just telling who he wasn't comfortable making. That's just one example, plenty others is that indictment and detention memos that indicate Ligambi was acting boss until he got picked up and that Joey was always official boss.

Further back, the Previte tapes also supported the contention that Joey was boss of South Philly at least when Natale was out and likely giving orders across the board. I'd agree, Ralph was a lightning rod, Uncle Junior in the flesh. I'd also suspect there are some on this board who have been in Joey's company when he's been with Ligambi, Borgesi Mazzone etc, whether bar or restaurant. These guys aren't shut-ins. If you have been, no way you question which one is the boss. Everyone with Joey flanks him no matter who they are and everybody else waits patiently waits to talk with him. Doesn't take George Anastasia to figure out the hub and the spokes.

I've noticed a new young guy has been hanging around Joey Merlino and his crew. I believe his name is Pete Tuccio. I first saw him in the mobtalk episode 22 video where he's walking with Joey outside the courthouse and have seen him in a recent picture with Mike Lancelotti and Dom Grande. Does anyone know anything about this guy?
