Yes. Planned hits. And yes, it is probable. All of the italics in the world won't change that. These guys don't go out and about with a gun and a ski mask on them on the off chance that they'll run into a rat.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Planned hits?B. wrote:There have been a number of hits where guys have used their own cars.
And that is the key point here.
Whether the hit was planned or spur of the minute.
Its obviously possible that the hit was planned. But is it probable?
Logically you'd have to admit that it is highly unlikely a professional hitman would do so on a planned hit.

Beyond that you don't go off without permission and whack someone when the acting boss is on trial unsactioned killings especially at a time like that would sign your own death warrant. Of course it was planned and of course it was sanctioned I think people are giving these guys too much credit let's face it he was a moron that used his own car in a hit and left the gun in the car after the hit to be found by police he should have been put in an insane asylum for being that dumbB. wrote:Yes. So its probable that months of planning resulted in the guy using his own car 5 blocks from his house in broad daylight is it?B. wrote:And yes, it is probable. All of the italics in the world won't change that.
You believe that, there's no point in carrying on the debate.

Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
No doubt nicodemo will face charges again in federal court for this hit most likely as part of a Rico to me that's double jeopardy but the Feds have been doing that for years constitution be damnedRocco wrote:I can see the feds creating another gambling case and rolling it into a Rico case again. They really don't care about the tax payer dollars...they care more about locking up the suspects without bail and having them spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on defending themselves. The last case more of an expense for ligambi then it was for feds.

You've been quipping and quapping throughout this entire topic. I'm going to leave it at that because I don't like going to the sitdown section.SonnyBlackstein wrote:So its probable that months of planning resulted in the guy using his own car 5 blocks from his house in broad daylight is it?B. wrote:And yes, it is probable. I don't know if or how the hit was planned, but Scott's article is interesting and the timeline is logical if nothing else. If your argument is that it wasn't planned because mob hitters don't use their own cars and don't kill people near their own homes, especially in South Philly, then you are off base. Anthony Nicodemo and Dominic Grande don't randomly drive around with a ski mask and gun in case they see someone they want to kill. They're not John Veasey.

He was made in 1992 or 93 I believe, and his sponsor was apparently Scoops Licata in North Jersey.camerono wrote:I read somewhere skinny Joey wasn't made and some said the lukes were interested in him but it was a bullshit rumor. is merlino made and does anyone know who proposed him and what year?I been told it was Natalie but I'm quite sure that's not the case.

Yeah he was made in September 1992. Interesting that Licata sponsored him since they were from different worlds. Wasn't Licata in prison at the time?

You and I however appear to have very different definitions of 'planning'.
We also have different opinions of logical.

Scoops Licata, of all people. That's really odd. Thanks for the interesting factoid.B. wrote: He was made in 1992 or 93 I believe, and his sponsor was apparently Scoops Licata in North Jersey.

I wouldn't try using logic when discussing mob guys most of them are pretty stupid that's why they don't have legit jobs nicodemo and grande will go down as the dumbest hit men in history with veasey. Use your own car and don't even ditch the piece. If he wouldn't have left the piece in the car he would have had much better odds at trialSonnyBlackstein wrote:Obviously.B. wrote: If your argument is that it wasn't planned because mob hitters don't use their own cars and don't kill people near their own homes, especially in South Philly, then you are off base. Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
If you understand mafia you can see it is quite logical why they will use their own car and maybe even make it obvious they did the hit. If they control the area, the person is disliked, he's considered a rat then they will make it obvious they killed him to send a message. It shows they are in control and scares the hell out of anybody thinking of going against them. If they didn't get caught the news would be all over the area who did the hit and will make them stronger plus nobody will dare to testify against them.
It's a kind of public relations.

Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
I think It was planned as in it was approved through channels and signed off on by Merlino. I think it was a take care of this as soon as you can. I think they came down the street saw the opportunity and did it. But I don't think it was planned as in how the military would plan a Seal team mission. I think they saw him, saw the opportunity to complete the work, came back around and did the job without thinking through the details. I also believe the counted on the neighborhood to protect them a little bit or rather counted on fear in the neighborhood protecting them a little bit.
