Since we were on the subject of people moving, according to Forbes Magazine, an article was written listing the 10 most current popular cities in America to which people are MOVING. The source of the information for the Article came from Realtor.Com and the U.S. Census Bureau.
1). Tampa, Florida
2). Jacksonville, Florida
3). Charlotte, North Carolina
4). San Antonio, Texas
5). Austin, Texas
6). Las Vegas, Nevada
7). Orlando, Florida
8). Nashville, Tennesee
9). Raleigh, North Carolina
10). Portland, Oregon
not surprising. austin is blowing up right now, and nashville too. nashville's housing market has gotten crazy. i heard a lot of foreign money is there in their housing market now, chinese especially.
I wouldnt be surprised if multiple places in florida and NC have topped that list year after year for the longest. everyone moves to florida eventually. south florida is already like the 6th boro, and a shitload of puerto ricans from NYC have relocated to Orlando the past 10 years. there are nowhere near the amount of PRs left here compared to what it used to be.
my parents are in florida for 1/4th of the year. im gonna go down & spend time with them this winter. wouldnt mind moving there myself. i kinda want to check out Tampa, already know Miami and parts of Broward well. never been to Tampa and also never been to Jax. Orlando im not a big fan of
I hate Miami, It's like being in a foreign Country. Jacksonville is great. Much different than Southern Florida. Jacksonville is considered the deep South like all of the panhandle straight across to Pensacola. Much more Traditional and Conservative.
Miami is a dump. It is indeed like living in a foreign country. Real third world like. Overcrowded, corrupt and crime ridden. Sad considering all of the natural beauty around it and what it could be.
The overall crime rate in Miami is 80% higher than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 14 daily crimes that occur in Miami. Miami is safer than 5% of the cities in the United States. In Miami you have a 1 in 20 chance of becoming a victim of any crime.
It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
idk how often you guys go to Miami but I am in Southern Florida all thetime from, Palm Beach, to Boca, Boyton and DelRay and also Miami , MIami has been in a up swing for a long time starting to feel like NYC with Palm Trees

Tampa and Jacksonville are trashy. Miami is like a 3rd world country. Its good for a vacation. I hear Sarasota is nice, but never been. I was in Austin a year ago and it was a great livable city, but heard traffic is getting bad. Portland is very green and pretty, but weird people...lotta homeless.
been to all except portland, the list says popular for people to move to ..not the best for living.for bring up a family and quality of life the list does not qualify in my opinion..scratchcertain areas of tampa and the traffic is btutal, jacksonville maybe ten more years ,san antonio no way, vegas get ready for divorce, too many vice ,orlando worst on the list, traffic like l.i.e. in ny and miami unless you are rich, no way ,i live in sarasota ,nice for retirement , the other cities are very nice ,
Tampa & Jacksonville are great places to live because of the ethnic demographics and job opportunities. That's why they are ranked #1 and #2 on the list of the 10 best places to where people are moving. Drug addicts up in the New York, New Jersey, Philly area would have to search around a lot more in order to get Vicodin or any other Opioids as readily.
While surprisingly civil, it has gone pretty far off topic. If you guys want to discuss places to live and their respective pros and cons, feel free to open a thread up in gen-chat.

Those towns, except maybe Austin TX and Portland OR, are all super cheap to live in so I can see why people being priced out of cities on the East and West coasts would be moving there.
