I think that Dalitz was also close to Joe Kennedy during prohibition

Is there any kind of info out there on whether he ever pulled the trigger?

EDIT: In addition to the Lansky chat, the guy was often mentioned by top members of the commission so maybe he didnt reach the American dream but still he accomplished something which never ever before existed in CN circles, followed by Guzik, Alex and even maybe Dalitz

A great piece of journalism and very hard to find. The copy I have was purchased through a book search years ago. It’s worth reading.

More money to be made in Vegas. Moe did what many old timers always wanted...he went legit and was martyred!

You are absolutely right buddy. Lansky got fucked with Cuba but I doubt that he didnt immediately or already transferred his ops in Vegas, same as the other non-Italian or Italian gangsters from that era. After Cuba there were many so-called "attacks" in different countries (Giancana, Trafficante and other fellas are good examples of that) but nothing played out like Vegas.

I worked at a Goodwill ‘lot’ or wholesale store. Best place in the world I’ve ever seen to buy books, they charge 15 cents an inch for books. Just have to dig through bens to find the ones you want, they are the leftovers from all the stuff that didn’t sale at the retail stores. They normally have atleast one in every town where they have retail stores. There are 3 of them in St Louis and I highly recommend checking them out if there is one close by to where you live.

I would guess he probably did in his younger days . I believe he was in the original purple gang in Detroit ,

he was a suspect in the morris komissarow murder in the early 1930's

Yes, you're right about the 50's time period in GF2 and Havana and Lansky. I was just surprised by the power and wealth of Moe Dalitz since you always hear more about Lansky. I admit that I really don't understand these Jew Gangsters and how they were organized. Besides being a partner with the Cleveland Mafia, did Moe Dalitz have any partnerships with Lansky? Was there a Jewish national Syndicate or were the Jews simply partnered with the different Italian Groups? I don't really understand it because I hear it both ways. Seems to me that behind every Jew there was an Italian but I could be wrong?
I would venture to guess they were equal in power to the Italians at least during prohibiton
The cleveland group had four main partners Morris "Moe" daltiz , Sam "sambo" tucker , Louis "unlce louie "Rothkopf , Morris Kleinman they were eqaul partners in all there ventures ,

just off the top some of dalitzs group contacts , frank costello , peter licavoli , joe dicarolo , angelo polizzi , frank milano ,

Yes...he was one of Las Vegas’s biggest humanitarians...which pissed off the Feds in a way you couldn’t imagine.

Like Rosenthal in Casino, Moe was handed awards from some of the most prestigious organizations and legitimate businessmen. He was a true modern day Robin Hood!

The Sunrise Hospital.
On top of the Sunrise Hospital, Moe Dalitz also built the Las Vegas Country Club and Boulevard Mall. He also financed many home builders for private residential developments. He took over the Desert Inn in 1950 (79% ownership) and later the Stardust Resort and Casino. Moe also was partners in the Rock Island Railroad, Michigan Industrial Laundry Co., Detroit Steel Co. and founder of Dalitz Realty.
