Re: Gambling parlors across Northeast Ohio raided
This was an internet cafe bust. I'd be surprised if there were any mob connections.
All roads lead to New York.
Re: Gambling parlors across Northeast Ohio raided
I wasn't saying it was mob run or anything like that, but some of these bars and cafe's have old ties to bookmakers, loansharks and remnants of the old days...In some cases (Ex: Ronnie Carabbia went to prison and his son, brother and brother in law watched out for all of his action. His son Ron Jr went to Florida after starting Sky King Fireworks with gambling money to become one of the largest fireworks dealers in the country and opened up internet cafe's with "games of skill.") All his internet cafe's were "legal" but started up with gambling money from his father's action.

Yeah, I was aware of that example because of past discussions about Carabbia. But that's the only one I can think of.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 7:17 amI wasn't saying it was mob run or anything like that, but some of these bars and cafe's have old ties to bookmakers, loansharks and remnants of the old days...In some cases (Ex: Ronnie Carabbia went to prison and his son, brother and brother in law watched out for all of his action. Here's another example of taking illegal gambling money and funneling it through quasi-legitmate enterprises. This one was brilliant!

I'm aware of that case but I thought it was a video poker operation, with some bookmaking on the side. Not internet cafes.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 10:23 am
