Infamous Hit Teams

Post by chin_gigante »

I want to start a new thread dedicated solely to gathering the identities of the killers involved in major assassinations such as St Valentine's Day Massacre, Masseria, Maranzano, Schultz, Siegel, Anastasia, Gallo, Galante, Bruno, Castellano... Feel free to speculate, add your own hits to the thread and provide feedback

Alphonse Indelicato/ Philip Giaccone/ Dominick Trinchera (20/20 Night Club, 5th May 1981):

From what I know so far there were four shooters, plus the setup team who met with the three capos and Frank Lino before bringing them to the club, and then the clean-up team. I know Salvatore Vitale and Vito Rizzuto were two of the shooters. Joseph Massino and Gerlando Sciascia were part of the setup team. Dominick Napolitano and Benjamin Ruggiero were on the clean-up team I believe.

One article on Gangsters Inc. (unsure as to its accuracy) by David Amoruso identified Emanuele Ragusa and an unidentified man referred to as 'the old timer' as being the other two shooters. Amoruso also identifies Joseph Zicarelli, Nicola DiStefano and Antonio Giordano as meeting the targets upon their arrival.

Nicola DiStefano (setup)
Anthony Giordano (setup)
Joseph Massino (setup)
Dominick Napolitano (clean-up)
Emanuele Ragusa (shooter)
Vito Rizzuto (shooter)
Benjamin Ruggiero (clean-up)
Gerlando Sciascia (setup)
Salvatore Vitale (shooter)
Joseph Zicarelli (setup)
‘The old timer’ (shooter)

It was a five-man hit team, no?
Carmine Persico and Joe Gallo made up the other two, hence Joe Gallo's: "You can call us the barbershop quintet" quote.

That's if you believe that Gallo and Persico were involved in the hit at all and weren't just talking out of their asses for the bragging rights.

That's correct. Anastasia's chauffeur/ bodyguard Anthony Coppola was suspiciously absent at the time of the shooting.

I'll admit I don't know too much about the Anastasia hit, but I'm least pretty sure it was a five-man hit team. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Giuseppe "Joe the Boss" Masseria on April 15, 1931 at Nuova Villa Tammaro on Coney Island

Lucky Luciano (setup)
Vito Genovese (shooter?)
Frank Livorsi (shooter?)
Joseph "Joe Stretch" Stracci (shooter?)

It is unknown who pulled the trigger or if there were others but these guys were at Masserias table according to Joe Valachi.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
