Cool. Thanks.
Do we have any Bonanno surveillance photos from 1980 or prior?

I’m not greatly familiar with the Bonanno’s. However, did they have any operations in Manhattan. If so, how ran it and what did they operate?

Consigliere Steve Cannone had a social club in Little Italy.
Bonnano's were not as heavily represented in Manahatten as
Gambino or Genovese, but they did have some presence.

Is that Stevie Beef Cannone? If so, interesting. Do we know of any mades who operate there? I’m quite interested in the activities in Manhattan.

wow. very interesting. that area never was an italian enclave or "mob enclave" by any stretch. a very nice middle / upper middle class area, mostly Indian and black today.Chaps wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 3:10 pmAccording to his FBI file:B. wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 2:24 pm Cesare Bonventre lived in southwest Brooklyn / Bensonhurst area I believe. He of course hung out and had operations in Middle Village area, but he took over for Frank Lupo who was a southwest Brooklyn guy, and Lupo had been associated with the former consigliere Joseph DiFilippi in that area. The Bonanno's presence in the southern end of Brooklyn doesn't get much attention aside from Spero, Pitera, and the Linos, but there were a number of guys around there.
Phil Giaccone was originally from Ridgewood / Middle Village but was living in Jamaica by the time he was a captain I believe.
Pollastrino lived in Westchester county, north of the Bronx. His crew spanned multiple boroughs but had a lot of the Bronx guys.
Ferrugia operated on the eastern edge of Queens. Not sure exactly where he lived.
As of 1978, Salvatore Ferrugia lived at 84-14 250th St, Queens, NY.
The next jump in his file is 1980 and he's still at the same address.
kinda weird he lived out that way as a lot of those older guys - if they didnt high tail it to the burbs once they started making money - tended to live amongst their own, or somewhere that they had roots in.
Did Ferrugia ever run his own club? im dying to know what the deal was with this mysterious "Francis Lewis Blvd. social club", mentioned in DeStefano's Vinny Gorgeous book

Re: Bonanno 1980's questions
Not sure about today, but during the era this thread is about, the Bonnanos were relatively heavy in Manhattan - not so much in Little Italy proper, but in and around Knickerbocker Village on the Lower East Side.
It's a huge subsidized (middle class) housing development down by the river, and a lot of Bonnanos grew up and operated there. Lefty, Mirra, Joey D'Amico, Richard Canterella, Al Embaratto and the Chilis all had roots there. The Lucchese (the Tortorello brothers) and Genovese families (DiChiara, Elio Albanese, I believe Jimmy Ida at one point) were both in there as well. But the place was definitely a Bonnano stronghold. I THINK Lefty was able to finagle Pistone an apartment there too.
Lefty had a deli on Madison Street right there, and Marangello's club was a short walk away. im sure there were other hangouts too.
The old NY Post plant was right across the street on South Street and the Bonnanos ate through that place like fuckin termites.
Today, Id imagine the Bonnanos operations in the area are limited, to non existant. and that can be said about about the rest of the families when it comes to the LES and Little Italy. the "mulberry street crews" are in name only

Understood. Thanks for the info. I knew the Genovese guys had links there. I also believe that Oreste Abbamonte operated or frequented there. And then yeah, Elio Albanese from Geno, Joe Savarese I believe and Carmine Baby Carmine Russo I believe operated in Manhattan.

I think Anthony Spero should have been boss after Rastelli, not Big Joey. What do you guys think? Was it possible and a good idea?
