Did the LaFatch crew have hooks into or influence over the tire companies and/or local unions
associated with those tire plants? The crew probably took bets; made shy loans,

Lafatch wasn't involved in the Rubber Unions. Of all the various conversation that wasn't a topic. The Tire Industry and being the Rubber Capital of the World was just something that they weren't into. The peripheral things that you mentioned was their style. Quaker Oats HQ was there since the Civil War. At one point it was the Toy Manufacturer of the United States. From the Rubber Capital of the World became the Polymer Capital of the World. When I was in College, the University of Akron kept trying to push me into Polymer Physics. I told them I am going to College so I don't have to work for the Damn Rubber Companies! Anyway there were a lot of first out of Akron including AA Alcoholics Anonymous.
I havent seen any evidence of organized crime involement in the IRW in akron ,( I think the name has changed a few times, but basically the rubber workers union which is or was part of the CIO Congress ofIndustrial Organizations disbaned in 1955 and formed the afl-cio, SP thats where you should look if your so inclined.

the other blue collar manufacturing areas of the country, the mob was able to make big$ from the factory workers.

Yeah, Akron, OH at one time was a hopping city where you could make good wages and live a nice life. Plus, it is home to Luigi's which is the best pizza in Akron, a must try if you're ever in the city.

Back in the day, The Diamond Grill was the place for prime steaks, Willy Fries and the best bread basket around.
It's an cash only business and George brothers got more interested in sports than steaks and things changed.

First Energy used to be called Ohio Edison among other Companies. I worked for Ohio Edison under Contract for Both Power Plants in Akron. The Beech Street Steam Plant and the Gorge Power Plant. The Steam Plant had both Bottom Ash and Fly Ash, and the Gorge Power Plant had Slag Ash.

I have no FBI Files on this, I just remember the case as it was a shit show with a powerful family...but I will say that Pat was not involved with murder for hire.
