I wish I remember where I read it first. I did a search today trying to see if I could find it again and all I found today was a couple of references to it on some other forums. Maybe that is where I originally saw it but I'm thinking I read it on a transcript somewhere.

That was a hit planned on Gotti and Bobby was convicted based on that bathroom tape and got life.

They wanted to hit both John and Gene Gotti. And if I remember right, at least part of the reason was the Gambinos attempting to encroach on traditional Genovese turf in New Jersey, including the waterfront.
