Near mafia massacres
I was reading the Colombo 2011 bust again last night and thought of some recent examples where it seemed like the mafia was at least willing to show they weren’t afraid to potentially commit a mass shooting. Here are a few recent examples I can think of. Please feel free to correct/add any more you may have read about. As always, thanks Black Hand.
A little less recent and not as spectacular cause the mob was shooting each other all over the 1970’s -1980’s and also possibly embelushed but a prominent example none the less. Dom Montiglio sitting upstairs with a carbine ready to massacre the Dellacroce faction if there were any problems when Paul was made boss.
The infamous Gambino v Albanian showdown (talked about ad naseoum here and not trying to irritate any posters by brining it up again) where about 20 gambinos with guns met up with 5 or so Albanians at a rest stop. If Albanians didn’t threaten to shoot the gas pumps and blow everyone up and instead they fired a round at the Gambinos that surely would have been a total blood bath.
Vinny Basciano’s apparant beef with the Albanians. I believe this was late 90’s or early 2000’s? He supposedly got tired of their shit and sent “2 guys with machine guns” to their social club. Again, if the Albanians shoot at them, they probably leave everyone in the club on the floor.
Finally, the 2011 Colombo Mafia take down day bust. Andy Russo, was sent to shut down an unspecified card game in the Bronx, which he did. The Colombo’s then host their game the following week. Anticipating retaliation, Andy Russo instructed his guys to “load up” and if they come in through the front door to “shoot the shit out of them”.
Pretty facinating that in this day and age (late 90’s and even into the 2011 Colombo bust) that the mafia was willing to show they are not afraid to engage in a large scale shootouts if pushed into a corner.

Re: Near mafia massacres
The meeting with Dom upstairs always fascinated me. "If anybody comes out before Paul is accepted as boss, kill them all." Damn that's cold.
I get it....first rule of fight club.

Watch just about any documentary with Dominick Montiglio and you'll hear him tell that story. There's got to be at least 3 or 4 different docs with him in on youtube.
Nice rug ya got here kid...it’d be great for a craps game
Re: Near mafia massacres
Montiglio has talked about it in at least a few interviews. There wasn't supposed to be any guns at the meeting but his uncle Nino Gaggi said he was going to take a gun under the table. And his instructions to Dom were, "If you hear any shooting, blast anyone that comes out the front door."

The Giallanzo crew recently almost had a shooting war with drug dealers IIRC

Re: Near mafia massacres
It wasn't Andy Russo, it was Anthony Russo. Big difference. Andrew Russo was the family's aging street boss, and Anthony Russo was a violent, 40-something acting captain. But yes, they were definitely ready for violence. Anthony also griped that he was one of the only ones in the family willing to "go to war," which is something.

My bad, you are correct Gohn. Thanks for catching that. He also said he thought there was a rat real close to the Colombo’s and he would decapitate him when they found out who it was lol.gohnjotti wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 2:07 pm It wasn't Andy Russo, it was Anthony Russo. Interesting to note Anthony Russo was “admonished” by acting boss Andy Mush Russo for requesting a sit down and not retaliating first against the gambinos when a Colombo associate was stabbed. Anthony seemed like such a violent guy and cowboy, you’d think he would have acted violently first but since he didn’t, I think it shows how ruthless Andy Mush Russo really is.
Re: Near mafia massacres
Andrew Russo also told Paul Bevacqua that he had “never hesitated” when it came to violence.

Thanks, I'll have to check them out.MichaelGiovanni wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 11:12 amWatch just about any documentary with Dominick Montiglio and you'll hear him tell that story. There's got to be at least 3 or 4 different docs with him in on youtube.

Maybe im wrong...but i think i remember that some of you NY researchers used to say that Montiglio was full of shit
I also remember when he allegedly posted a photo of dead Demeo which in fact was a photo of dead Chicago member Charles English.
So my question is, do you guys really believe in his whole sniper/mob meeting story? I mean is it backed by some other source? Because if not, then....

I've heard him tell that story before and John Gotti was supposedly there with the Dellacroce faction but I'm pretty sure Gotti was still in prison when that meeting took place.

Personally I think he’s full of shit. He wasn’t even made and he’s going to be the guy to clip Dellacroce if things went bad? I don’t think so.Villain wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 4:10 pm Maybe im wrong...but i think i remember that some of you NY researchers used to say that Montiglio was full of shit

Re: Near mafia massacres
I dont think he was honest or correct about everything but that doesn't necessarily mean he was lying about that. And it actually seens like something Gaggi would do. Things were tense at the time between the Castellano and Dellacroce factions. And it's not like Montiglio sat in on the meeting. He was just somebody close to Nino who he could use as as a shooter if things went bad. And I actually don't recall him ever saying Gotti was there.Villain wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 4:10 pm Maybe im wrong...but i think i remember that some of you NY researchers used to say that Montiglio was full of shit
