2007 mob war?

On June 6, 2007 Gambino associate Robert Deccico was shot in Brooklyn. DeCicco survived the shooting. 2 days later Genovese soldier Rudy Izzi was fatally shot in his Brooklyn home. Some people in the media speculated these shootings were a result of a conflict between the genoveses and the gambinos. Well its been 11 years and still isnt an answer. At least from what ive found. Does anyone have any info or speculation on this whole thing?

Though a good thread/question to raise slim, it appears all are as much in the dark concerning this issue as are we.

I do remember reading something about the possible motive being him holding back money (ie the West Side had him killed) but no idea if there was any truth to that.

I also seem to remember reading something about DeCicco owing people money for gambling debts. Again, no idea about the validity of it.

What you’re suggesting is a non made associate who owed a debt would be the catalyst for getting a made guy, from THE WESTSIDE, clipped for an attempted hit on, an unmade associate who owes a debt.

What you’re suggesting is a non made associate who owed a debt would be the catalyst for getting a made guy, from THE WESTSIDE, clipped for an attempted hit on, an unmade associate who owes a debt.

I mean his father was a captain, he could have made the beef to the hierarchy...who knows. Or he lied about the gambling debt and said it was to send a message to his dad, none of us have any idea what could have went on behind the scenes. Power struggle, old vendetta and using this as an excuse...etc

Can't be any definitive "nope's when it comes to mob speculation. Not everyone plays by the rules, either. Not in this day and age.

War is far too big a word to describe just two hits.

When I think about war I think about Castellammarese, Colombo or Montreal with a multitude of victims on both sides. Corleonesi never was a war either just a housecleaning.

I agree as what was DeCicco alternarive if he was shot for
Owing $ to Izzo . It could have been a kill or be killed situation and he had the family to pull it off.

Westside are sneaky tho so I wouldn’t be surprised if they used a beef like this to wack Izzo and have the Gambino catch the intention . With a shy book over $1m , there were likely a bunch of Westside guys looking to find a way to take that over and not have it come back on him.

My guess is either DeCicco or a greedy / rule break inside hit.

So I shouldn't even be doing this since I got drilled when I thought I was being nice and contributing some shit to the roc and trucchio situation.. but fuck it I'm going to anyways cause I feel atleast a few people might appreciate it and not just call bullshit for no reason.. like I said before this is just shit I've heard. I wasn't there and I'm not saying it's gospel.so believe it, don't believe it, make fun of me, do whatever but I'm just stating what I've been told about the decicco thing. I don't know shit about the izzi thing .
So Georgie proposes his son bobby to get made....I guess his son wasn't very well thought of and was looked at as a scumbag piece of shit...anyways, so bobby I guess owed little Nicky's crew some money.. I think it was something like 15k with juice. So I heard bobbys name gets passed around and Canarsie shoots it down until he pays the debt..so his dad George doesn't have the cash so Georgie goes to the German to try to borrow it.the German before this has previously been told by Canarsie to under no circumstance to lend any money to any decicco family memeber because in reality lil Nicky does not want him to get a button.georgie then reaches out to someone who also agrees and tells him your son cannot be made until he pays the debt...then Canarsie turns to someone who owes them money and tells them they will clear his debt if he becomes a "spy" for them against bobby to see what he's saying and what's going on.
So the guy walks over to Georgie's club and instantly asks bobby about the beef...after bobby talks his shit about the situation the "spy" instantly goes back to Canarsie and tells little Nicky that bobbys talking shit... Nicky drives straight to another high ranking member of the family and instantly beefs "you can't bad mouth a skipper" that's a huge offense for an associate and they both agree now bobby can't get made. He blew it..well then bobby instead of doing the smart thing he starts bad mouthing Canarsie like crazy cause he's butthurt they played him and stopped him from getting his button..... and well like you could imagine that's what let to him getting his ass shot up...
After that Georgie ended up going to bat for his son and got him a pass... and in exchange for the pass on his son Georgie was "allowed to step down" which I take meaning the nice way of shelving someone who's held in pretty high regard... and I guess after that I heard Georgie's crew was given to butchie from Canarsie...

Like I said don't shoot the messenger. I just hear some things sometimes and like i said I found this very interesting so I figured some of you might also find it interesting since it's some rather detailed info about the situation that you can't read in an article...
