I doubt Gene will be bumped up to capo as soon as he walks out of prison. I mentioned this in another thread but a promotion to capo isn't something you can hand out without a second thought. You have to either demote another capo or split a crew in half.
Again, disagree. A guy can have the title without a crew.
Or a crew can even be created. But it’s not a necessity.
Corallo ducks’s driver was a Capo and his job was to just drive the boss around in his non Italian sports car all day.
It is to a boss’s discretion whether someone gets their stripes. They don’t have a set number of skippers or crews, it’s discretionary.
Are you talking about Sal Avellino Jr. Because he definitely had a crew under him, as well as other interests besides driving Corallo around. I believe Avellino ran the trash hauling rackets on Long Island.
And sure, a new crew can be created for Gene. But that involves transferring soldiers from other crews. And, if those soldiers are kicking upstairs to their capo, that's less income for that particular capo.
Are there any other examples of a person being a captain in name alone?
I also thought Avellino was made captain after ducks went to jail? Though I could be mistaken.
And yes he was heavy into garbage, Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 66 in Long Island

I thought the gas station confrontation happened in august/September 2001.
I'm not sure if Garcia got the timeline confused or what. The indictment of the Rudaj organization was in October 2004 and the December 2004 article below talks about the gas station meeting in the past tense.
Squitieri wasn't acting boss in August/September 2001, no? Peter Gotti was still on the streets.
Not that this changes anything. It would naturally have been too much heat for Pete to have a sitdown with Albanians.
I have to ask again...does anyone know where I can find the documentary about Rudaj? It's the "America's Most Evil" series, and I can seemingly find every other episode besides the one centering around the Albanians. Thanks to anyone that can steer me in the right direction!
