Vinnie Teresea
i believe he was the second important flip after Valachi?
he was the first to testify I think? but wouldn't testify against Patriarca or Henry Tameleo??
do we believe he passed on being made?
iv become pretty interested w Boston lately for some reason.

I believe most of his claims have been proven false, but others probably know more.
If I recall, his book has him talking his way into the number 3 position, I believe he even said "maybe in the old days they did (the ceremony), but it's not done anymore." Unless my mind is spacing.

he claimed that he did not want to be made bc it would put restrictions on himself.Chris Christie wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 6:49 pm I believe most of his claims have been proven false, but others probably know more.

See, either my mind is having a senior moment or I recall him in his book "My Life In The Mafia" talking his way into the number 3 position, adamantly claiming that a ceremony isn't needed, being close to Carmine Galante in prison as well as him handling Haitian government contracts for the Patriarcas. Somebody has to know more.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 11:13 amhe claimed that he did not want to be made bc it would put restrictions on himself.Chris Christie wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 6:49 pm I believe most of his claims have been proven false, but others probably know more.

Yes he testified against a number of people but refused to testify against Patriarca. I don´t recall the exact reason why he refused but I think it had to do with the two of them being very close.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 11:13 am

He hated the Angiulo brothers, particulary Jerry. Said he bought his way in when he took over the numbers operations in Boston. He also claimed that he was the one giving orders to Angiulo, which Angiulo didn´t take well. In reality though, I think it was the other way around.
Regarding Galante, he said that Galante offered him a spot in the Bonanno Family (offering to make him when the books opens) and that if things would have turned differently (him not becoming a CW), he would have joined him.
He claimed Carlo Mastrototaro was a cheap bastard who replaced Tameleo as underboss not knowing that Mastrotatotaro actually was a Genovese member.
His book was the first one I read on the Mafia and it sparked my interest, not knowing that maybe half of what´s in there is probably lies.
There you have it, never printed before.

Re: Vinnie Teresea
I ordered it back in '02 and didn't even finish reading it. I recall the Galante part, him saying that "Boston fucked him over and that Galante would make a place for him in his family."
Again, I seem to recall him claiming to have become a member (you're in) and immediately the ranking member #3 man in New England. I don't recall him claiming he turned down membership, especially given the book's title. And I fervently am clinging to the "the mob doesn't initiate people anymore, maybe they did that in the old days" statement because he was quoted in other sources having said that. If I'm mistaken I'll own up to it and take an L.

A lot hated at least Gerry. I heard Donato or Nicolo was actually fairly well liked and was a killer. Gerry bought his way in but he made more money than any other Boston gangster without question. He also controlled Larry Zannino which says a lot, so I doubt Teresa controlled Angiulo. Just my opinion.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 12:54 amHe hated the Angiulo brothers, particulary Jerry. Said he bought his way in when he took over the numbers operations in Boston. Re: Vinnie Teresea
Man I wish I had the book.
Lol, I recal complete opposite of u CC. I specifically remember him turning down membership but it's been years. I do recall not testify against patriarca also.
The book I thought was great. Good breakdown of winter hill wars. It was also before Bulger came out so it's interesting to see the legend of Whitey wasn't there yet.
Also he wrote about gallo war I thought was good too. I thought he said Tameleo became "the referee* BC of gallo war... But I could be mistaken for Bianco.
As for Anguilo he said he was being shaken down by Larry zannino so he went to patriarca and gave him half his sports book which I think was huge.
Teresa also flipped BC of Larry zannino

If he did not know that Carol Mast was the overseer/boss in Worcester, not the UB, then he was not very astute.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 12:54 amYes he testified against a number of people but refused to testify against Patriarca. I think you are thinking about Bianco. He was involved with the Colombo's on and off during the Gallo Wars.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 9:48 amAlso he wrote about gallo war I thought was good too. If I'm not mistaken, that is correct on Angiulo. According to the original Underboss book (about Angiulo), it mentioned too that Larry was shaking him down and he paid the old man to get him off his back and gave him control of all of Boston's numbers. Think it was $100k or $150k and a percentage of the book. It had to have felt weird because Zannino was a Patriarca favorite yet he went from shaking Angiulo down to basically working for him.
What's the story on Teresa flipping because of Zannino? I don't know about this. I'll have to get this book too

Re: Vinnie Teresea
apparently when Teresea was in jail and when he first got there he asked his wife if she was bein taken care of. not only was she not but larry basically said to fuck off.dixiemafia wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 5:55 amI think you are thinking about Bianco.
