I just read on this forum someone alluding to an alleged earlier conspiracy to murder Carmine Galante in 1974.

Anyone know more details about it? Was it Rusty and co.? The Commission? Another family?

Galante was released first January 1974 but was later returned to jail due to parole violations. I remember seing that claim (DiGirolamo given Galante contract) in a FBI document. No reason was given but it had probably to do with him (Galante) pushing for the top spot and seen as a threat by the powers in the Bonanno Family or because he had bad mouthed Gambino and threatened his life.

Out in January 1974 to March 1977. Then out in 1978 till he was killed.

In the 1950's Roy Cohn was a wonderboy in the fight against the Red menace- communism. He personaly got the death penalty for Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and got convictions on Miriam Moskowitz and Abe Brothman also red spies. Roy then went to Wash, DC and became Joe McCarthy's right hand man. However he made a big enemy with Bobby Kennedy as he got him kicked off the team since he had Mccarthy's ear. Once McCarthyism ran its course Roy came up to NY and that's when the fun began! From the late 50's to the 70's he was King of NY and introduced Trump to everyone. I'm the guy who gave him the nickname "Tickettron" because Roy was best friends with clients Stevie Rubell, Ian Schrager and George Steinbrenner. So if you wanted good tickets at Yankee Stadium and entry into Studio 54 - just call Roy if you knew his phone number. Roy was the 1st person in NYC to have a car phone. He always talked to two (2) people at once on separate phones. There will never be another Roy. ps - he allowed Fat Tony Salerno to hold meetings in his law office sicne the feds could not get a warrant there.
