Francesco Palmeri?
Would he be " technically" an associate? Or is he a made guy?

There have always been associates close to bosses and admin members. From Lansky and Luciano, to Casso and Sydney Lieberman (who they killed a made guy to give business to), Hugh McIntosh and Persico, shit even the Chin and Savino.. The list goes on and on.

Pogo The Clown wrote: Mon Apr 30, 2018 7:38 am How the hell am I going to have pictures of who Cali is or isn't meeting? I'm just stating facts. All adminitration members deal with Capos and associates. That is how they operate. You can look at every indictment and informant testimony in all 5 families going back to forever.

Seems that over the last few years Cali, Cefalu and the Gambinos in general have been greatly inflated on the forums to where people have an unrealistic view of their power and the way they operate.

Pogo
You need to send him a picture of Don Corleone meeting with the Heads of all the Families. Cali was sitting next to Barzini. :mrgreen:

@pogo

When you say an " unrealistic view of their power", what in your opinion exactly is this view?
That the Sicilian mobsters are superior? I think that's what irks a lot of people about that Sixth family book.

Or do you mean something different?

I think this stuff gets misunderstood a LOT. I mean take Cali right? He's big in food I heard. Is it implausible that Cali would meet with say... A crooked food executive, or businessman who qualifies as an associate? Nah. If the guy is a big enough earner, you see the bosses more often than not try to monopolize the connection to the guy.

That's what it's about, connections. " Sicilian faction" to me means, a click of wealthy, mafia connected families (that permeate multiple actual families) with long ties to narcotics trafficking. John Dicke explains it better than me in his books.

@ wise guy

Just a question.. Was that serious on the Corrozzo thing?

Only reason I'm asking is because in the Q&A with DiLeonardo, he says Corrozzo was never in line to be boss. Made me wonder where that ever came from.

Also I got another question for wise guy

The Valaci 450 figure... Why would you even believe that? Not an attack, it's just he was a low level guy. He knew ALL 450 made guys? He was properly introduced to ALL 450 members? And would he actually remember em all? The names? Territories? It's not plausible anyway... In my opinion. You would need multiple informants' or like the boss at the top for that it seems.

Look at the DiLeonardo questions, he knows what he knows about, but he doesn't know everything that's went on.....

Lol, another thing, sorry guys.

A guy would turn down getting made for the same reasons guys like DiLeonardo and Colletti turn down promotions like consigliere, less headaches, MORE power. I know from experience, sometimes rank DOES NOT EQUAL POWER. You see this in real life politics all the time.

I'm skeptical for the 450 figure, but Valachi was a very reliable informer. The feds confirmed ~80-90% of all the info he gave them via other sources. It's important to note while Valachi was a low level guy, he was there since the start. He rubbed shoulders on the streets with the bosses and had close ties with the lucchese family. He was good at remembering names and faces too. Also he was very close to Strollo. Back then people were not so tight lipped as they are now because the heat wasn't on until the 60's. DiLeonardo made his bones in a different time. It's out of the question to think an average button today will have the same amount of knowledge about the family operations as the guys back in the day.

@Eboli

I hear you.... but still. Like it's been said the Gambinos had more than double that, 1000.

The FEDs really were JUST getting up to speed during that time period.....
