Joey Merlino spent milions for lawyers for don't turn back in prison so I thinked yes maybe wasn't like the 1980s when scarfo had 3 milions hidden in his home but the boss of a small families: Decavalcante,Patriarca,Detroit what can earn: 1 milion,2 milion ? only the money that capos gives to him.
Patriarcas and Scarfo family stay in big city with a good recruitment pool so even if a capo give only 100,000 a year are 1,2 milion.Detroit is the smallest family so maybe just a milion a year.

U worded ur question quite strange but if ur asking how small families earn so much, its prob from drug dealing, taxing drug dealers, and internet gambling scams. Those types of rackets seem to be big money makers for lcn nowadays. Families are also known to be more cooperative with each other in 2018, doin scams together so that more people can prophet off of the rackets. This isnt facts but its likely how smaller families make so much cash.

Small Family bosses made a ton of money. I know for certain that Mike Genovese used a money launderer named Vic Calautti from Youngstown along with Nicky Scarfo, John Stanfa, Billy D'Elia. In 1989, Mike Genovese gave Vic Calautti $12 million from "alleged" narcotics sales to put into Swiss Bank Accounts. In 1991, Mike also gave another $10 million in illegal gains to Vic for the same bank account.

Carlos Marcello in NOLA and Santo Trafficante in Tampa
also made millions. Santo- Bolita and drug imporation w/ Cubans.
Carlos- drugs early on, all Gulf Coast rackets thereafter.
