Galati gets 22 years

Post by Hailbritain »

Former Philadelphia auto shop owner Ronald Galati was sentenced to 22 years in prison Monday for trying to have his daughter's then-boyfriend killed in a murder-for-hire plot that unfolded in Atlantic City.

No members of Galati's family were in attendance for the sentencing hearing in federal court in Camden.

Assistant US Attorney Jason Richardson told Judge Joseph Rodriguez in federal court in Camden that Andrew Tuono, who survived the shooting, might have died if not for a jammed gun.

"He was shot because Mr. Galati did not like him," he said.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

What I'm saying is I'd be surprised if he was even offered a deal. He's a fringe guy whose happy to do favors, always has been. Anything he knows would be second hand and the feds probably know that.

You don't know that he didn't try to cut a deal? If they turned him down you would never know. There are plenty of guys that put out feelers to cut a deal and are shot down. Like Chucky said....he doesn't have the goods on anyone. If he knows something he probably couldn't prove it. Low level. Bye Bye Fucko See ya in Attica Dickhead

If he had anything at all on anybody major in Philly he could have gotten a deal with the hard on the Feds have for Ligambi and fellow goodfella's. He either didn't offer to flip or don't know shit of any interest.

Galati Gives Up, Pleads No Contest for Murder-for-Hire And Fraud Charges

Ron Galati decided this afternoon to fold his cards rather than fight murder-for-hire and insurance fraud charges in Commons Pleas Court

Already serving a 22-year federal sentence for a conviction in a different murder conspiracy case, the 65-year-old South Philadelphia auto body shop owner pleaded no contest to a series of charges tied to two separate indictments pending against him.

Galati implied that he was not guilty, but said he opted to take a deal offered by the District Attorney's Office in order to "put this away and move on."

"This is the best decision," he told Judge Daniel Anders during a protracted hearing that began shortly before 10 a.m. and did not conclude until 12:45.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Galati's sentence in the two Common Pleas Court cases will run concurrently with the federal sentence he is currently serving. In addition, the District Attorney's Office agreed to drop insurance fraud charges against Galati's wife, Vicki.

Galati's son, Ron Jr., entered a guilty plea at a separate hearing to bid rigging and fraud charges tied to what authorities said was a multi-million dollar insurance fraud scam run out of Galati's American Collision body shop in South Philadelphia.

Both Galatis are to be sentenced on Dec. 9.
