Gambino is legit nowdays, he was ordered to be legit and to answer to his uncles in NY. His cousins in Palermo tried to involve him in some trafficks but he stayed out of the games at the end

Here's your "wiki" information:

According to LAPD 'Gambino is considered by Southern California organized crime investigators to be a rising star in the Los Angeles underworld'
'The police and FBI . . . suspect young Gambino is a rising underboss in the Los Angeles La Cosa Nostra scene'"

p. 739 "Justice undone: clemency decisions in the Clinton White House : second report, Volume 1" United States Congress, House Committee on Government Reform

The report also linked Tommy Gambino to an Ecstasy ring in 2001.
I said I think, wasn't aware of this report, but be a cunt about it
I don't post information based on what i read on wiki. Too often people post information and then someone comes along and shits on it. Others may overlook it, but I don't appreciate it. Apparently standing up for yourself makes you a "cunt?" Is that the standard here? Stand up for yourself and a bully calls you a "cunt."

How would Kenji know? He left LA long before Gambino allegedly took the underboss spot. He was never privy to that stuff.

I don't recall his timeline but I believe he was an associate in that family during this period and delt with several members.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Pogo
He transferred to the Colombo family before Teddy Persico Jr was released from prison. So around 01/02.

Alright, some miscommunication here. I admit my initial response was snarky and oversensitive, so that was my bad. We've never had a problem before, so why start now imo. Let's move on and get back to the thread.

This is interesting Felice, thanks for posting. Sounds like Greco and Lo Piccolo tried to establish network with Gambino, but he turned them down, or stayed out of it. The article talks about TG's visits to Palermo, but were these meetings documented in any Italian govt or police documents? Anyhow, thanks again.

So do we know if was even a made guy? If the LA family was on life support in the 90s, would they have been initiating new members?

@Jimmyb or Felice, Did the Pizza Connection from Sicily ever extend out West to the smaller Families like Denver or L.A.? I only remember it being on the East Coast and some in the Midwest.

Gambino was made in LA, yes, he was living there to stay closer to his jailed father and he had to leave Philadelphia because he was on Merlino's black list. Yes, I had one report that shows some tapes and has links to surveillance photos to another folder I was not sent anyway.

Great question. As CabriniGreen points out, i think pizza connection network mostly in the rustbelt: buffalo, michigan, wisconsin, illinois.

There was a Sicilian network in Florida though. Check out the book "dead ringer." Author gets some stuff wrong, but it's interesting to check out. I talked to one of the FBI investigators on that case.

Great stuff felice, thanks. Makes sense about Merlino. I remember reading the Stanfa-TGambino transcripts in "Goodfella Tapes."

Interesting to me that Merlino's threat was taken seriously by the Gambinos
