Mikey Mancuso after his release from prison.
Does anybody on this forum have any information on Michael Mancuso from 1994-to-2004? I understand he was released from prison in '94, promoted to captain at some point, and by 2004 he was acting underboss.
I understand he was Bronx-based, and friends/contemporaries with Vinny Basciano, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Would like to know more about the incident were his wife got shot , wasn’t mancuso on a ruling panel running the bonnanos with cicale when basciano was in prison in 2004

Hey HB, I have a bit of information on that situation.Hailbritain wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 3:18 am Would like to know more about the incident were his wife got shot , wasn’t mancuso on a ruling panel running the bonnanos with cicale when basciano was in prison in 2004
The shooting occurred in August 1984. During an argument with his wife Evelina, he shot and fatally killed her. Presumably in a panic, he drove her to Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx and left her on a bench outside the entrance. He was quickly arrested afterwards and pled our to manslaughter. Here’s what his defence lawyer said about the incident:
“His wife’s death was an absolute tragedy. They had an argument and she got shot.”
Mancuso got 10 years for the shooting.
I personally don’t think Cicale was ever on a ruling panel but I could be wrong. Anything Cicale says to Ed Scarpo or anyone should be taken with a grain of salt.

He promoted to Acting Capo in 2003 then Acting UnderBoss in 2004.
It came out in 2005/6. I believe in one of the detention memos. It would have been very brief since Basciano was imprisoned in November and Cicale was imprisoned not long after in March.

Ok, thanks Pogo. So he went from acting capo to acting boss in the span of two years?Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:41 am

Yes. The family was really decimated by that point.

Yep. The family had over 60 active members taken off the street (imprisoned or flipped) from 2002-early 2007 including succesive administrations and almost all of the Capos. It is pretty remarkable that they were able to survive it and still function at a high level.

Yes, the Bonannos and Colombo’s are hallmarks of the mafia’s resilience. In fact the Bonannos haven’t really been able to catch a break in recent years but they show no signs of slowing down.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 1:17 pm Yep. To clarify, after Mancuso's release he was in Patty DeFilippo's crew, right? Also, was he made before or after his manslaughter conviction?

Don't know if that was the first crew was came back to but most likely. He was Acting Capo for DeFilippo. He was made after he got out of prison.

It's the structure - bigger than any one guy or several guys - that explains their resilience and longevity. It's why, as long as there is an ongoing recruiting pool, repeated prosecutions and lots of defections can only do so much. You can weaken the families, and reduce their scope, but only attrition will see their end. Particularly in New York.gohnjotti wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 1:54 pmYes, the Bonannos and Colombo’s are hallmarks of the mafia’s resilience.
