Do you remember where the info that Esposito was made came from, Pogo? I mean he clearly is just wondering where it originated.

Don't remember where it originally came from but he is listed as a member in his indictment.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

You’re right Pogo. We just have different opinions on what “big bucks” are. Misunderstanding.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 11:30 am There is nothing to disagree with. The facts are that the mob today is no longer making big money. Joe Defede testified that he only made 1.6 million during his 4 years as Acting Boss. Joe Massiano only had, what, 12 million in assests and cash to his name? And he was a top Boss for 14 years and the Underboss for 10 years before that. Richard Cantarella said he only made about 500K during his mob run and he was a top Capo for 11 years. Even adjusted for inflation that is shit.
To quote the Sopranos the mob today no longer has that Don Corleone money.

And the article here quotes the government as labeling Esposito a "high-ranking and influential member of the Genovese family."Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 12:04 pm

As far as money goes, I've said many times that most mob guys appear to be more or less middle class. There are still mob guys who are multi-millionaires. Others are brokesters. But both are in the minority. If "Don Corleone money" is the bar, where you buy the Vatican's share of Immobiliare for $600 million and write a $100 million check for the poor in Sicily without blinking an eye, I'm not sure any American mob guy (past or present) measures up.

Re: Gangland news 25th jan 2018
I agree. ‘Don Corleone’ money, as AJ’s friends put it, is an unrealistic standard for any mobster. Once you hit the $2 million estate mark, I consider that to be big bucks.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 12:50 pmAnd the article here quotes the government as labeling Esposito a "high-ranking and influential member of the Genovese family."Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 12:04 pm

Sorry guy's but a few hundred grand a year for a Boss or top member is shit.
To quote Gordon Gekko, "I'm not talking a $200,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being "comfortable", I'm talking rich pal, rich enough to fly in your own jet, rich enough not to waste time, 50-100 million, a player Bud -- or nothing."
What's the point in being a top gangster and all the risks invovled just to end up a "comfortable" working stiff.

Because these guys are generally thugs with no marketable skills. They don’t pay attention in school and drop out at fifteen, look for whatever can make them quick, hard cash, and the smartest of the bunch rise up the ranks. By the time they’re 45, they might own a couple of legit businesses but by this point they don’t have the work ethic or the drive to want to sit down for eight hours and play it safe. Of course there are exceptions to the rule like Tough Tony Federici but I’m speaking generally.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 1:33 pm What's the point in being a top gangster and all the risks invovled just to end up a "comfortable" working stiff.

Re: Gangland news 25th jan 2018
3.8 million seized. That`s a lot of money for the Genovese that they`ve lost.
Re: Gangland news 25th jan 2018
That's where I think we're talking apples and oranges. That Sopranos episode you quoted demonstrated that when we see AJ thinking his family is pretty well off (and they are) but gets more perspective when he goes to his girlfriend's house and sees how wealthy they are. Here in America, I think relatively few OC guys have hit the Gordon Gekko standard of $50-100 million and can compete with the really big Fortune 500 or Wall Street bigwigs. And, unless they have a lot of legit interests that can explain that kind of money, a mob guy is not going to be able to spend most of that anyway. I think a more apples to apples comparison would be between mobsters themselves. But aside from some guys like Tommy Gambino, where their wealth can be documented to a large degree, a lot of those figures we see are questionable and based on a lot of guesswork.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 1:33 pm Sorry guy's but a few hundred grand a year for a Boss or top member is shit.

Seems like the only direct evidence they have on Esposito
Is what they have on his tapped phone ? He broke the cardinal rule , surprising . The hand gun in NY might carry the most time lol . Arena might do some decent time but I wonder how they can link Esposito up with that ? As he seems to have those guys fronting for him . I’m sure the payoffs were with marked cash too.
My guess is he’s a capo and also overseeing / representing NJ into the admin .
These guys certainly know their union biz , getting a cut of any union service providers and fake LLC invoices instead of outright stealing union benefit funds like the old days lol. Nice racket that probably had some real influence in select NYC / NJ business activities . The west side really does have diverse rackets , impressive.
He also had a $5M Harlem property plus other property he wouldn’t disclose to authorities. With the 2 properties and cash that’s $21M in class A assets . What’s a great life he has .

Pogo isn't Staluppi the wealthiest made guy? Pretty sure I read he is worth $450 million. I'll see if I can find the article that had his net worth in one of those business magazines.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 11:30 am There is nothing to disagree with. Re: Gangland news 25th jan 2018
Most of them are not that rich because they are not smart enough to have successful legit businesses to actually spend the money and have the mansions etc. On the flip side of the coin. What the fuck is the point of being a gangster if you have to be a legit wealthy business man...lol Answer there are very few if any gangsters that have actual wealth. Not rich like I have Benz, a $1million McMansion in Bergen County with the mortgage in my wifes name and it all comes crumbling down when I am arrested and the wife moves back in the her parents when I get locked up.. but actual wealth... where my grandkids will be rich..etcPogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 1:33 pm Sorry guy's but a few hundred grand a year for a Boss or top member is shit.

Staluppi I NOT a gangster. He was just a bank when needed for Carmine. Can we even call the guy active? He probably hasn't done anything illegal in 40yrs. He gave away a few cars during the Colombo wars in the early 90s. He also donates cars to charity every yr ? for all purposes Staluppi is legit. And if he is made it is a favor from Carmine for giving money to him or his family when he needed it. The guy is not a gangster. He is legit and I guess we can call him not active forever..lol lets find a guy who is active in illegal rackets and is worth 150mil net and not dead or in jail. find one.willychichi wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 5:09 pmPogo isn't Staluppi the wealthiest made guy?
