So why does Rizzuto care so much that montagna got hit? Who could expect to reign in desjardins after the attempred hit on him? I am not clear on how much Rizzuto knew at that time in terms of the details of the plotting between desjardins and montagna...he was certainly still calling up did maulo for important conversations and didon't like what he heard.

The only thing he cared about Montagna was that he probably would've wanted to kill him himself.mr white wrote:So why does Rizzuto care so much that montagna got hit? Who knows, perhaps Rizzuto went after Desjardins and everyone connected to him because he was so mad they killed Montagna before he could.
Di Maulo, being a veteran mobster and probably still loyal to New York, knew the implications of killing Montagna. I think indirectly, Montagna's presence was his life insurancy. When the latter was killed, the coalition that wanted to replace the Rizzutos automatically lost the support they may have had from New York and perhaps from the elements of the Siderno group as well. This gave the Rizzuto group the opportunity to enact revenge because outside forces weren't going to interfere. I think everybody outside of Montreal that was somehow involved with the coup washed their hands off Montreal when the coalition inside the city fell apart.
It's interesting if Montagna wanted Di Maulo to take over. If that's true the guy really wasn't as stupid as some believe. I think this would've been a smart move. Di Maulo was a logical successor of Rizzuto and he was widely respected in and outside of the city. Most likely ties to the Bonannos would've been restored and Montagna could've maintained some influence from Toronto, where according to some sources he wanted to settle.

I don’t know it seems like she wouldn’t be privy to this info in reality, and she might just be saying this to sell books. Just seems like this conversation between he and rizzuto would’ve been under more secure conditions than the two of them discussing shit on the phone while di mauling is at his house, where his daughter can here. Or the mom knowing things and then telling the daughter. I just don’t buy it

Yea I read an article where she seems to imply her and Joe did not get along so she definitely wouldn't be privy to their conversations. I wouldn't mind reading it IF an English version comes out, but I'm not getting my hopes up on a lot of it being anything we don't already know.
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....
