The chins opinion towards Massino
I'm curious about Chin and what he thought of Massino ? As boss, how he ran the bonanno's and about turning that family around . Obviously the chin was in prison during that 2000 semi Commission meeting but wonder what he told his underlings prior to that meeting and throughout the 90s.
I'm sure he knew that Joe and John Gotti were friends so maybe that also ran thru his mind of not getting to close to him..

Hence one of the reasons Chin was against letting the Bonannos back on the Commission.Mikeymike12 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 2:32 am I'm curious about Chin and what he thought of Massino ? I know the author isn't the most popular, but here's an article about the subject: http://www.cosanostranews.com/2015/06/w ... n-joe.html

Chin was a 3 Capos backer in the Bonanno conflict of the early 80s. He definitely didn't want Massino to have a seat on the Commission. It was a 2-2 tie with the Gambinos/Colombo on one side and the Genovese/Lucchese on the other. You had Gotti propping up Little Vic Orena. Plus at the time they had Philly backing them as they put Stanfa in place. Manna was gone and Gotti was trying to get more of a foothold in Jersey. What Chin personally thought of him I don't know.

I know a bit off topic but I've been surprised Massino hasnt tried to cash in on a book deal. Seems hes just living a quiet life in the witness protection.

Agree.
Wish he would.

Re: The chins opinion towards Massino
A lot of the guys who do the book deals and shit like that usually seem hard up for cash. I remember reading that the feds let Massino keep an obscene amount of cash/property so he's probably living very comfortably, and has little reason to put himself out there.
Re: The chins opinion towards Massino
He reportedly turned over $9 million, including $7.6 million in cash, gold, and real estate. I seem to remember they let his wife keep their home.TwoPiece wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 9:02 pmA lot of the guys who do the book deals and shit like that usually seem hard up for cash. There's nothing wrong with getting a book deal. In fact, I would love it if he got a book deal.

Except profiteering off criminal activity.
Ask any one of his murder victims families how they feel about Massino fattening his wallet with stories of him murdering their respective family members.
We'd love it. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with it.

A Mikey Scars book would be awesome. With the interviews he gives, he always gives good insight and seems honest and doesn't brag about the good ole days like Leonetti or some of them.Hailbritain wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 12:08 am Must admit a book by either massino , sal vitale or mikey scars would be awesome

Isn't there also a law in the US to prevent this? Son of Sam law iirc..SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 11:42 pmExcept profiteering off criminal activity.

Re: The chins opinion towards Massino
Son of Sam Law was first enacted in 1977 in New York. However, I believe it was overturned in 1991 by an Appeals Court in New York. The liberal Judge said it violated the First Amendment.
