Two of the best on the money posts about the WHOLE subject.....well put gentlemen.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 10:44 pmI agree that, like with mob journalists, not all local insider guys are created equal. Maybe Pogo, as well as myself, have just built up very sensitive radars after years of battling too many posters that ended up being proven bullshitters and who are no longer around. We view the general phenomenon of "fresh street talk," or whatever you want to call it, with extreme suspicion and doubt and, frankly, for very good reason.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 10:11 pm You're missing the point mate. I'm not trying to compare Capeci with bronx.
I'm simply pointing out the ridiculousness of being on one 'team' and blindly dismissing the other.
Capeci gets things wrong on occasion. So does bronx.
It's an inexact science.
But MAYBE, with bronx, to an objective mind, having proved that he might know something's not found in books or boards, might have a piece or two of information to bring to the table. Or at the least a perspective of a local with an ear to the ground.
It's not about one or the other. It's not a comparison of apples. It's being mature enough to keep an open mind and judge each case on its own merits.
To compare bronx to a Giacomo Vacari, simply 'because he has fresh street talk' is to lump Capeci with in with Volkman as they are 'both writers and journalists!'
As in everything, you get in every category, the good and the bad. Maybe Capeci isn't a Volkman, and maybe bronx isn't a Vacari.
Capeci no doubt has a lot to offer. Perhaps bronx does too?
But I agree we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. As I said in the John Gambino thread, there have been times when a local guy had heard something legit and posted it on the forum. It's just crucial that A) those guys have the self discipline to not get carried away and keep what they actually heard separate from their own opinions and speculations; and B) that other posters don't get carried away and start viewing these guys as being in a position to know more than they realistically can or more credible than the feds or a guy like Capeci who have proven to be our most consistent sources of solid info.

So is Cefalu still the boss, is it Cali or is it a ruling panel and if so who is on it?
Obama's a pimp he coulda never outfought Trump, but I didn't know it till this day that it was Putin all along.
Re: Gangland news 23rd nov 2017
The last we knew from 2008 to 2011 it was ruling panel of Marino Gambino and Versace. Now my opinion is since 2011 it is all up in the air again. Also Gotti as Official Boss is still the official law enforcement info.
Re: Gangland news 23rd nov 2017
Your welcome. I think we can all agree that it is unclear what the leadership positions were since 2011. There just been to much different info coming in since then.

Capeci pretty much said it’s still cefalu , so I’m my opinion it’s cefalu
Re: Gangland news 23rd nov 2017
So you believe it's been Cefalu as acting boss with Cali as Underboss since 20011 with maybe Gambino as Consigliere. Of course Peter Gotti as official boss??

Thanks Frank, really difficult to tell at this point who is running the day to day with the Gambinos. My guess would be that is by design at least as far as the Feds are concerned.

Re: Gangland news 23rd nov 2017
Yes but it was Capeci who wrote in 2013 that Cali was going to replace Cefalu. Then it came out that Cali turned down the job. Then he wrote in 2015 again that Cali replaced Cefalu as acting boss, this time accepting the job. So it's been commonly reported that Cali has been acting boss since 2015. Capeci has never stated till this week that Cefalu was still boss all that time or became acting boss again. So I really don't know where he is coming from.
Re: Gangland news 23rd nov 2017
And yes willychichi you make a great point about it being by design. It does seem like it's been to easy for Capeci to get this information. It's like he reported who's acting boss as soon as it happens. The reports on Cefalu and Cali came out almost immediately as they took power. That's definitely not to secretive.

Uh, did I miss something? If I'm remembering correctly, Capeci reported Cefalu was the new acting boss in 2011. In 2013 it was reported Cali turned down the acting boss position. Then in 2015, Capeci reported that one of his sources said Cali was the new acting boss. But in a follow up article Capeci reported other sources of his were adamant that Cefalu remained acting boss, Cali underboss, with Peter Gotti as the nominal official boss. And Capeci reported the source who said Cali had taken over as acting boss admitted the possibility of error. And now this month Capeci once again reported Cefalu to be acting boss. It's not that confusing folks.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 6:21 pmWell Capeci has been saying it's been Cali for the last 4yrs so maybe nobody really has any fucking idea really.Hailbritain wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 1:56 pm Capeci pretty much said it’s still cefalu , so I’m my opinion it’s cefalu
