@johnny_scootch: That same list appears on the Wikipedia article on the Buffalo Family -- see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_crime_family.
Did someone edit the wiki as a result of Scarpo's article? (The article is referenced in footnote 1.) Or did Scarpo use the Wikipedia article for his blog post?
Giuseppe Violi (Joe) is the younger brother. The older brother Domenico is supposedly the one with a flair for leadership.

The entire "current leadership" section is brand new and was added today.antimafia wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 3:59 pm @johnny_scootch: That same list appears on the Wikipedia article on the Buffalo Family -- see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_crime_family.

Thanks.
I see that his article is being used as the source that the Buffalo Family has a membership of 55 soldiers.

If this is correct it would be the first time that a Canadian mafioso, Giuseppe Violi, has been appointed as underboss in an American Mafia organization!johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 2:25 pm Thought this list was interesting I found it in Ed Scarpo's latest article on the Bonanno-Canada bust. If it was posted already my apologies I haven't had chance to go back and read all posts in this thread.
Buffalo
Boss
Frank BiFulco
Underboss
Joe Violi (Canada Faction)
Consigliere
Victor Sansanese
Capos
Frank Falzone-
Buffalo,
Six soldiers, took over BiFulco crew.
Anthony Todaro
Buffalo,
Eight soldiers, took over when his brother Joe Jr retired.
Natale Luppino
Hamilton, Canada,
Nine soldiers, took over crew when Violi was moved up to Underboss, who in turn had taken over when Vincent Luppino passed away in 2009.
Bruno Monaco
Toronto, Canada
Five soldiers, took over when Dante Gasbarrini passed away. Gasbarrini became Capo when Paul Volpe was killed, and to get away from Giacomo Luppino and John Papalia of Hamilton.
Russell Carcone
Utica
Six soldiers
Loren Piccarreto/Anthony Chirico- Rochester,
Five soldiers.
When Thomas Marotta came back in the 1990's, he decided to join the Bonanno family and took half of the independent family with him to the Bonanno family. After what happened up in Hamiliton with John Papalia, Rene Piccarreto decided to be more friendlier with Buffalo. When Joe "Lead Pipe Joe" Todaro retired in 2006, Angelo Amico decided to rejoin the Buffalo Family.
Robert Panaro
Las Vegas
No soldiers, Panaro is direct with the family administration and other capos.
"About 12 to 15 members are retired," our source noted.
So about 40 made members are still active in Buffalo.

To Everyone: Aforementioned Scarpa list sounds wiki-fake. However, does anyone have at least an up to date list of Buffalo members--not necessarily in Family chart format--to see how many true members are still walking around? And I realize that the posting of such a list does not necessarily a Family make.

Not sure on that. The last I know about was in 1985 but they could have had some after that.

Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
I should add that in the early/mid 90s the Feds had them at 40 made members and by 2006 they were down to 23 members. So it doesn't look like they held any ceremonies after that early/mid 90s period.

Ah, gotta love those inflated internet lists of the families. 23 members in 2006 with at least 8 dying since then leaves 15 or so remaining. Much more believable than 40 active guys up there.gohnjotti wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:07 pmDo you know when their lasting known making ceremony was held?Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 6:54 pmBeatiPaoli wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 6:37 pm However, does anyone have at least an up to date list of Buffalo members--not necessarily in Family chart format--to see how many true members are still walking around?

Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
The Feds don't even have Buffalo listed as an active Family anymore. Probably less than 10 remaining guys.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they only listed 10 groups as still active like a true Family with a hierarchy structure:
5 in New York
New Jersey
Philly
New England
Chicago
Detroit
In 10 years from now, the number will be less. The last to go will be the 5 New York Families.
