De George attended Accardo's daughter's wedding in 1961. Article states he was demoted from Capo in the 1940's for dereliction of duties. I assume that he was not part of the plot, but members of his crew were.

By the way, if his Italian name was Vincenzo, why did they call him James in English? Vincent would be more logical. The Italian name for James is Giacomo (for example, Big Jim Colosimo was originally Giacomo Colosimo I think).

The name "James/Jimmy" being used for Vincenzo was extremely common earlier on, more common in my experience than "Vincent", though that eventually took over. I think Christie mentioned on here before that this was because some Italian nicknames for "Vincenzo" sounded phonetically like "Jimmy", which led to them using the name James.

Giacomo and Gioacchino both tend to be "Jake" or "Jack" here, but these things aren't always consistent.

DeGeorge was from Ribera (if that wasn't mentioned earlier) so he was probably affiliated with 1920s Chicago leader Pasquale Lolordo. I know that Aiello's brother Sam had fled to Wisconsin after his brother's death, but he had been opposed to his brother so he was allowed to return to Chicago where he joined DeGeorge's crew. After DeGeorge was "banished" to Wisconsin, he apparently had some amount of social connection to the Milwaukee family as he was seen at the funeral of a Milwaukee member along with Winconsin-based Chicago member Frank LoGalbo (who had originally been made into the Milwaukee family but transferred) and John DiBella.

Wasn't there a Sicilian Mafia family based on the north side and I think Melrose Park that merged into the Outfit, that I think DeGeorge was originally with. I can't remember who the original bosses names were.

Maybe some of the Chicago researchers might disagree with me but my personal opinion is that Capones guy in the Melrose Park area was Frank Rio. He grew up around Stone Park and Fraklyn Park and by the early 1930s or when Montana Sr was sent to jail, Rio was the syndicates main guy around the Western suburbs. Some say that Rocco DeGrazia was Capones man over there but I personally believe that he previously operated on the Northwest side which in fact was the so-called front line between factions of the North Mafia and the Caponites. DeGrazia was the perfect guy for that territory since he was one of the top enforcers who also possibly had some involment in the infamous massacre. When Rio unexpectedly died in 1935 i think, thats when DeGrazia became the top boss of that same area.
