Accardo visited Roberto in 1959 i think allegedly because of the narcotics problem on the other hand he was also constantly visited by LaPorte, Guzzino or Emery while he was still alive. I believe that Emery and Roberto played a major role in Chicagos involvment in dope

There seems to be most families had certain people that were allowed to be in the dope thing.

Thank you that was amazing.
Re: The Chicago Family
Very interesting if there may have been separate family in Indiana. That would point to Paolo Palazzolo as a possible leader there, maybe representing that family at Cleveland in 1928. He always stood out to me with that meeting because he was said to be a major racketeer in the Gary area and his murder in 1935 was said to be a continuation of prohibition murders, which sounds like a Chicago connection.
What do you make of Joe Giunta and Frank Abbate using Palazzolo's Indiana address at the Cleveland bust?

Re: The Chicago Family
Gaspari Monti was one of the early bosses in Gary, IN, killed in 1923. He had a strong Black Hand/Bootlegging presence, known as "king of the Italian underworld".Antiliar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2017 1:31 am Piazza ran a separate Mafia Family in Chicago Heights. That Family was killed off by Roberto, Emery and LaPorte with the support of Capone. After they took over, it became an Outfit crew. Gary, Indiana might also have been an early Mafia Family that got knocked down by the Outfit.
Ironically, he was going to testify against 75 Lake County officials and was gunned down prior to his testimony. It was one of the most talked about cases in the Midwest back in 1923.

May I ask where this came from? it's interesting you say this because the Gennas's were on the same West Side street where you had a strong non-Sic faction, but all I've read (very little) lead me to believe that the Genna's and Capone were at odds. Am I mistaken?
Either way, regardless of the 1920's gang wars, these separate Ital factions got along more often than not, Chicago and Chicago Heights is no exception.
Re: The Chicago Family
I think you're right Chris but this was at the beginning before Lombardo came to town or became big time, who in turn tried to make peace between the factions. He was sent by "the old man" (Masseria? Or Maranzano? or maybe even Yale?) since i really dont know who that is and i think that you posses some knowledge regarding the identity of the boss. It was not a coincidence that at first he was closer to the hot-headed Joe Aiello. My personal belief is that at the beginning Lombardo allegedly succeeded in connecting the Aiellos and Gennas with the Torrios and Espositos. Story goes that there was always some conflict between the Gennas and the North Side clans, mostly because of the Gennas closer association with other gangs and when most of the brothers got killed, thats when their alleged enemy Aiello began spreading his legit or ilegit enterprises on their old territory (curently im writing an article regarding the food business during that time), which later possibly errupted in a battle for the Near West Side. On top of that during the 1920s, the West and South Sides were largerly controlled by the Neapolitans or Calabrese.Chris Christie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2017 9:23 pmMay I ask where this came from? it's interesting you say this because the Gennas's were on the same West Side street where you had a strong non-Sic faction, but all I've read (very little) lead me to believe that the Genna's and Capone were at odds. Also i think that even decades later when the North Side was under DeGeorge there was still some kind of hatred and proof for that are the numerous 1940s murders of many North Side members or Mafiosi, allegedly ordered by the West Side non-Sicilian administration and the Sicilans who joined them(Volpe, Ricca, Campagna, Roberto, Maritote, DeGrazia), which after the murder of Esposito and later the imprisonment of Al, became in charge of the Outfit. To me it seems that from day one, the Northsiders dreamed for the top spot untill Prio turned his back at them and as a reward became the boss of that same group. I also believe that the previous guy who sort of held the connection between the two factions was Benevento or maybe even DeGeorge.
I also believe that if it wasnt for Al's killing spree over some of the Sicilian factions, the conflict wouldve lasted longer or even maybe there wouldve been few crime families in Chicago, similar to NY, instead of one

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
Re: The Chicago Family
Youre welcome, and Pogo i have to be honest that many of those names were portrayed as Black Hand in Chicagos newspapers at the time, which did not had a clue regarding the Mafia. So I really dont know if they were independent or not. If you like i can do some research or maybe Antiliar posses some info regarding some of the names. Also another interesting name is Joe D'Andrea who in turn was a political boss or fixer and possibly a Mafia member or associate connected to the Colosimo/Torrio gang but killed in 1914Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 9:40 amVillain wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2017 11:24 am Also here are some additional names from that era, mainly from the South Side and suburbs: James Cosmano (surbived an attack in 1912 and later fled), Paul Cosmano, John Morrissi, Louis D'Andrea....and some from the North Side including the Nicolosi bros, Nota bros, the Morici bros, Vic Barone, Joe Novello, Mike Rizzo, Betrucci bros, Sal Gloriana, the Colo bros, Carl Moretti, Locascio bros, Pete Catalanetto (killed in 1915), John Catalanetto (killed in 1916)

Re: The Chicago Family
Me myself always steered clear of the Outfit, I know too little and I hate relying on people. I wouldn't mind doing "Villain Charts" and I just take a design credit similar to what I did with Scott Burnstein's Chicago. As of right now I'm backed up: The Five Families current chart (probably need to change a few bosses before I'm done with it), An Ohio chart with Strocco, a Pittsburgh chart with JCB and of course a fucking Colombo lineage chart so people will stop asking.Villain wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 9:29 amYoure welcome at any time and also, since youre known for making these inrcedibile charts, i would like to see one of the Outfit, obviously if its ok with you. If you wanted to do some early stuff, 1910's, 20's, 30's gang hierarchy or group with a map of Chicago incorporated, I'd be interested because I'd learn from it.
