He was Capo of a Jersey Crew from 1956 until he died 1988. He also oversaw the family's Florida operations for a period in the 80s. His dad was the previous Capo of his crew.

The burglars took $2,000 cash from Paterno's purse and expensive crystal vases and other pieces, police said.

I believe that Paterno crew was a separate crew from the Belleville crew that was taken over by Bobby when Gotti bumped him up. I believe the Paterno was more of a Newark Downneck crew. They targeted trucking & warehousing around the port and construction. They competed with the Westside crews downneck and worked with the Decavs in construction specifically Local 342 of the Laborers Union in Newark as several crew members were members or former members of that local. The Gambino's controlled that local. I could be wrong. But I think its a separate crew from Bobbys. Michael Mandaglia took over for Paterno in 85 when he died. Anthony Proto was a Gambino construction guy in that crew as well. The Gambino were once a force in NJ's construction unions. Not so much anymore. Below is a list of Gambino Locals that they controlled in the 80s in NJ . Most of it is all gone now. They have some influence in the Operator Engineer union in Springfield still. Enough to get family of made members jobs who have zero experience operating machinery... lol

Paterno moved permantly to Florida back in 1974 but still maintained control over his crew through Anthony Carminati. But after legal troubles, he was indicted in 1979 after refusing to testify before the NJ State Commission of Investigation, his crew went to Carminati officially. However, Paterno was given Zappi´s soldiers based down in Florida in 1985 after he became ill. When Paterno died in 1988, his soldiers and a couple of others based in NY, went to Eddie Lino.Rocco wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:29 pm I believe that Paterno crew was a separate crew from the Belleville crew that was taken over by Bobby when Gotti bumped him up. Mike Mondaglio, also a New Jersey based Gambino, was under a different captain. He was first under Paterno´s father Antonio, but ended up under Frank Perrone when Perrone split off from Paterno in the late 1950s. Mondaglio was made captian over Zappi´s NJ soldiers after Zappi died in 1986. This is the crew that later ended up under Bobby.

Thanks for the crew breakdown HK. Let me add that Natale Richichi was the Capo of the Florida Crew after Paterno.

I believe Richichi was given Zappi´s soldiers based in NY when he died. So that would mean a different crew. Richichi´s crew was disbanded after he became ill and moved to Las Vegas in 1988. He stayed on as a captain but had no soldiers under him, That´s the info i´ve got anyway.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:34 am Thanks for the crew breakdown HK. I rechecked and yeah, Richchi took over for Paterno. Here is Gravano's breakdown of the Florida Crew during this period.
