Golden Era Members

Post by Pogo The Clown »

The recent death of Charlie Pannarella got me thinking of the remaining members
from the mobs golden age (those made before the books were closed in the late 1950s). Here is what I got. Am I missing anyone?

Colombo:
Carmine Persico
John "Sonny" Franzese
Salvatore “Sally Pro” Profaci
Vincent Aloi

Gambino:
Frank "Frankie Loc" LoCascio
Joseph "Joe Ox" Marino
Philip "The Professor" Modica

Lucchese:
Christopher "Christy Ticks" Furnari

Genovese:
Mario “The Shadow” Gigante
Lawrence "Larry Fab/Little Larry" Dentico

Bonanno:
Salvatore Marchese - ?

Is Aniello "Neil" Migliore still alive? He even attended the 1957 Apalachin meeting.

Don't think anyone from Chicago is still alive from that time period. DiFronzo and Lombardo would be the oldest but most evidence points to them not being made until late sixties or early seventies.

If there is anyone alive who was made in the Golden Era, it would be DiFronzo himself. He's currently the oldest living member (unless there's someone off the radar, which is possible, but not likely at this point). He could have been made in the late 1950s. Possibly Joe Andriacchi, who is also is his 80s, but I doubt it.

Benny Eggs was made in 1976, but had been a bookmaker since he returned home from WW2. He was arrested on bookmaking charges in 1946, 1947, 1950 and 1961.

Still alive but he wasn't made until 1980.

Still alive but he wasn't made until 1980.
But why did they take an non-made associate to such an important meeting (high-ranking mafiosi from all other the country)? Is it reliable information that he was really there or hasn't it been confirmed? It's just I never read anyone disputing that, so I assumed it to be true, but if Migliore wasn't even made, I don't know now....

He was a driver. I doubt he took part in any of the actual meetings they had there.

I'm not sure this is correct. I thought he was a Capo in the 70's and was made an offer to be under and refused or something of the like.

im really surprised to see Frank Locascio on this list... especially with the other thread where he was a capo for only a year then became consiglere...

a "Golden era" member that supported Gotti just is suprising.

He was never a Capo in the 70s. That was one of those things that was repeated on the forums. He was an Acting Capo during the 80s and briefly served as UnderBoss in the mid 1980s. According to Tommy Ricciardi they were both made in the same ceremony.
