Vinny Gorgeous wants out
‘Vinny Gorgeous’ wants life sentence tossed over ineffective counsel: http://nypost.com/2017/06/26/vinny-gorg ... e-counsel/
Re: Vinny Gorgeous wants out
Does he know that even if this one was tossed out he'd still be serving a life sentence from the 2001 hit?

Re: Vinny Gorgeous wants out
Maybe the 1st life sentence has got a better chance for being granted parole, since he killed somebody who was going to kidnap his son for ransom...Although I don't know whether they consider this juridically relevant. But the 2nd murder (the Pizzolo one) was less "necessary" if we reason by the mafia logic imo. At least, getting sympathy for that conviction is more difficult than for the 1st one, probably that's the strategy / reasoning.

There is no longer parole in the federal prison system.Dwalin2014 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 7:25 pm Maybe the 1st life sentence has got a better chance for being granted parole, since he killed somebody who was going to kidnap his son for ransom...Although I don't know whether they consider this juridically relevant. https://pap.georgia.gov/life-sentences
Parole-eligible offenders serving a life sentence for a serious violent felony (murder, rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, armed robbery, or kidnapping) committed prior to July 1, 2006, are initially considered for parole after serving 14 years. Those offenders who committed such crimes on or after July 1, 2006, will not be considered for parole until they have served 30 years.
If I well understand if Basciano remaing with only a life sentence for Santoro murder in 2001 maybe can be paroled after 14 years. An offender can be sentenced to life without parole for murder if the crime involved aggravating circumstances sufficient to warrant a sentence of death. An offender can be sentenced to life without parole for a second conviction of a serious violent felony.

Furio, you are looking at State of Georgia's website. Each individual state has different parameters for parole.
If you were convicted of a federal crime prior to November 1, 1987, you are eligible for parole in the federal system. Anyone convicted after that date has to serve the entirety of their sentence unless it's commuted by a judge. Very few guys around today that are still serving time from before then, Carmine Persico being a notable exception.

He ain't getting out - a prior appeal he had to write himself as pro se because he could not afford an attorney. And this is how you treat a former Boss of a family? Me thinks if he does get out sometime in the future - someone will have to answer for that! Does the goomad still visit him? I have a lot of questions here - how does he afford an attorney now and who pays for Kim's trips out to see him?
