PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police sources say a 45-year-old South Philadelphia man stands charged tonight in the drug overdose deaths of two Queen Village residents. It's the first such case filed in Philadelphia under a new state law.
The two victims died of drug overdoses in early April in an apartment at 4th and Bainbridge. Joseph Massimino Jr. is now charged with their deaths after detectives linked a unique drug concoction, phone messages and drug containers to Massimino.
When police raided Massimino's Mountain Street home they seized over $200,000 in heroin, crystal meth, barbiturates and marijuana. They also found over $7,000 in cash and two guns.
Massimino was being held on $750,000 bail. Sources say he is the son of jailed Mob Underboss Joseph "Mousie" Massimino.
The attorney for Massimino, Greg Pagano, released a statement saying, "This is an uncommon charge we will review the evidence and fight the charges."

His Dad at one point in the 2000s was Ligambi's first Underboss, then Massimino Sr. got jammed up by the NJ State Police OC Detectives in a Gambling ring run out of South Jersey.

Re: Massimino's son charged in overdose deaths
What a bullshit charge. Even if somebody sells drugs they are not responsible for what somebody else does. I used to love whiskey but it wouldnt be Jim Beam's fault if i got a DUI,get the fuck out of here.
Re: Massimino's son charged in overdose deaths
Its a new law here in Kentucky as well. They gave a guy 40 years, and another life, for being directly responsible for multiple overdose deaths with heroin loaded with fentanyl.. Like Kentucky, Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth state, but I doubt that has anything to do with it.
Related, there's a new batch of skag going around that is part heroin, fentanyl and elephant tranquilizer called "Gray Death" because it's color resembles a concrete brick. Its immune to Narcan, and its popped up in Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio....and Pennsylvania.

It's not saying the drug user themselves don't bare responsibility but the drug dealer also sharing responsibility is a big reason why these drugs are illegal in the first place. They're pushing poison and preying on people and exploiting addiction for profit. And, as I've said before, the legal alcohol and tobacco companies are really no different. And the only reason they are legal is because politicians and lawmakers are more likely to partake of alcohol or cigarettes than cocaine, heroin, etcTeflon john wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2017 8:34 pm What a bullshit charge. Re: Massimino's son charged in overdose deaths
I am a recovering addict myself and hold no one responsible for the things that i did except myself. I bought the stuff, took it,but survived it and am man enough to admit it was all me and not who sold anything to me. I am just happy that i still have my wife and kids but what is wrong with people is that they will not own what they do. I never said drug dealers were good people or are not doing wrong but if someone dies it is bullshit to charge them for it.
Re: Massimino's son charged in overdose deaths
I would have to bet that JR Mousie is a junkie. He looks like one. And most of the people selling heroin out there are junkies themselves. With heroin going for $5 $10 a bag the exposure to law enforcement selling that shit is off the scales. Only people making money selling heroin are at the top of the food chain. The rest are junkies selling it for free heroin. They are the ones going to jail.
