Re: Gambino Family members party
Felice -one more if you can- Salvatore Badalamenti in attendance?
Re: Gambino Family members party
well, this is a recent story, Giuseppe Gambino wanted to make soldier Salvatore Lombardo. Lombardo has been living in the Usa for more than 20 years and before to come to Usa he was a made man in the Montelepre family. To make him, Gambino said he needed an official letter from his mob family in sicily.
Calogero Caruso, member of Torretta family and very close to Gambino, managed all the situation by going to Montelepre family capo and then to the capomandamento to get this letter.
He was taped by police and only for this story he was sentenced to 8 years

Re: Gambino Family members party
I have not ever seen Badalamenti in my life so I can't know.
Re: Gambino Family members party
Oh. I thought Lombardo was only an associate. But I guess the mafiosi have an advantage when they didn't like the rules they can just change them. Incredible they still use these letters. And even more incredible the importance of this group between New York, Palermo and Calabria.
Badalamenti is Gambino family, right?

He is a made man of the Torretta family. He was described as Gambino soldier too but I do not think he was made in NY.
Calì got even upset with Badalmenti because he missed to reply to some letters about some constructions in bk. Badalamenti's nephews seem to be big constructors

Toto, they are the mafia, I have been studying and researching the mafia for years, no group can't be compared to them, so many guys and all related to each other, no turncoats, a lot of money
Re: Gambino Family members party
Yeah. Also why I think they are not any longer involved direct in crimes. They are making introductions, giving guarantees and recycling and laundering money and doing management only. It makes them very difficult to catch and its real mafia.
Incredible Buscetta said more than 30 years ago when he was arrested something like- be careful a new mafia is born in New York and growing up.

This is major information. We know of similar practices in the pre-1930s, but if this has been going on post-1930, even if they just started doing it again, it could significantly bolster families like the Gambinos who have heavy Sicilian ties and might explain some missing links about the 1930-1990 period.felice wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2017 2:06 pm well, this is a recent story, Giuseppe Gambino wanted to make soldier Salvatore Lombardo. Also, I want to thank you again, Felice, for everything you've shared about the US-Sicilian connections over the years. Without you, we would only have these vague articles about "Sicilian factions" and the "Sicilian takeover" with no real details or knowledge of the relationships / connections going on. I hope everyone here realized that much of the information we take for granted about the Sicilians originally came through Felice, first on RD and on the different incarnations of this board.
Toto deserves a lot of credit as well for filling in more information on the various Sicilian families.

I haven't been on this board that long, but it's a true privilege to get to read some of these threads full of new info that I otherwise never would've come across. Thankfully the bickering has also been down to a minimum compared to a few days ago. I'm not an ass kisser by any stretch of the imagination and find these GBB bashers very annoying, but truth be told, this forum is by far the best. There's no two ways about it..

I was just having a look at my notes, I think this is very interesting
Investigators say that although Gallina was the leader of the drug ring busted earlier this year, he was merely a member of the Carini faction.
The man identified by Holeman as the patriarch of the Carini faction in South Jersey is a local restaurateur with no criminal history. Another informant called him the pezzo novanta, which means ``90-cent piece'' or ``big shot'' - and described him as a man who has quietly operated the organization from the shadows while amassing a small fortune in cash and property holdings, according to FBI documents.
Other prime targets who have not been charged but who are clearly identified in Holeman's affidavits include a South Jersey pizzeria operator with ties to the infamous 1986 ``Pizza Connection'' case in New York; a convicted Sicilian heroin trafficker and former Atlantic City restaurateur who served more than 10 years in an Italian prison after being convicted on drug-dealing and pornography charges; and a reputed loan shark who collects ``tribute'' payments for a Sicilian faction of New York's Gambino crime family from South Jersey pizza shop operators.
Gallina, Saponara, who owns Don Giovanni Foods in the 2800 block of Belgrade Street in Philadelphia, and Vito Evola, 31, who operates Sal's Pizza on Market Street in
Palmyra, were identified by investigators last week as principal targets of the investigation. Each faces a sentence of 10 years to life in prison on drug-conspiracy charges.
Evola, like Gallina, migrated to the United States about 10 years ago from Carini, a small village west of Palermo, authorities said. And, they added, he had relatives tied to the Pizza Connection investigation.
Saponara, according to Mintz, opened Don Giovanni Foods a few years ago. Prior to that, the prosecutor said, he worked for Continential Imported Food Distributors Inc., a company controlled by Stanfa.
