When you see Docs online about the mob its always about the 80s Scarfo Gotti or the street gang wars of Joey merlino in the early 90s. But the reality of it is that the late 60s and thru the 70s mob related murders were off the charts. The mob wasn't afraid of committing murder because most of the time they were getting away with it. No RICO or WPP yet. There are probably so many murders in the 70s that didn't even pop up on LE's radar. People just vanished. lol The 70s were really the last days for LCN in American were they pretty could pull off murders without too much heat from LE. RICO and WPP changed everything.

And what about now? Worse, you're on camera everyday and don't even realize it.

If Scarfo can kill Salvy he can kill anybody.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

your right its the only reason the mob stop killing people is there couldnt kill with impunity anymore , In my opinion along with rico Wpp etc it is when the goverment let murders become stool pigeions and walk or do light time . Street guys lost that buffer

Yep. Pre RICO and WPP. The LCN was able to enforce Omerta with murders that they often got away with. No more. No they get away with it for a few yrs till someone flips.

I didn't see Dominick "Mickey Diamonds" DeVito listed, Nick Caramandi's mob mentor. Maybe I glossed over it.

EDIT: See his was listed on Wiseguys list on page one. Was he a soldier or an associate? Caramandi says in his book that he was a soldier. And he implies that DeVito was pretty close to consigliere, Joe "Mr. Joe" Rugnetta, and then Caponigro after the latter's passing.

Thought so. Wasn't sure, saw he was listed as an associate on Wiseguys list. I can recall seeing him referred to as such elsewhere as well, my memory is a bit cloudy though as far as where I saw it at exactly.

For those who didn't get the reference this was what George Anastasia always says when discussing the Salvy Testa hit.

Does anyone have any information on the Francesco DiGiacomo hit? Never seen the name before.

Yeah he was killed by Rosario Bellochi one of Stanfa's Sicilians. He was a grocer in South Philly and drug dealer and gambler on the side and was killed because Stanfa didn't like how he was "bragging about his connections to the Mob and Stanfa".
