Is Basciano still the official Boss?
I have seen people say it is Mancuso, but did Vinny ever step down or hand over the reigns?
I mean when he was on lock down all those years theres no way he could get orders out, so due to that was his status as boss dissolved?

I don't think basciano was ever official boss he was acting boss for massino , to be honest I don't think they have had an official boss since massino flipped

Re: Is Basciano still the official Boss?
Hmmm I would think when someone flips, they are instantly not the boss anymore and whoever was acting for them would then be official. That is my thinking.Hailbritain wrote:I don't think basciano was ever official boss he was acting boss for massino , to be honest I don't think they have had an official boss since massino flipped
If that is the case they will never have an official boss again.

The second part was referring to your theory...
If what you are saying is true they will never be able to have an official boss again
If what you are saying is true they will never be able to have an official boss again

Basciano was Acting Boss. He was imprisoned while Massino was still the Official Boss. Mancuso has been Official Boss since around 2012.

Fascinating question because when I found Vinny had to do his own appeals while doing 2 life terms - someone will have to explain how that was allowed to happen if he is successful on his case.

What exactly are the specific differences between the "acting" boss and "street" boss?

Last I heard Mancuso was Official Boss and Cammarano was acting.

Mostly media/LE invented terms and are interchangeable.
Don't give me your f***ing Manson lamps.
Re: Is Basciano still the official Boss?
That's not true at all. It is a position in cosa nostra very different from official boss. Usually utilized when the boss is in prison or trying to lay low they appoint someone to run the family in their place. Barney bellomo was appointed acting boss while chin retained his official position. Crea acting boss while amuso is in the can. Basciano acting boss while official boss massino was in the can. The list goes on and onSonnyBlackstein wrote:Chrissy_Scars wrote:What exactly are the specific differences between the "acting" boss and "street" boss?

Re: Is Basciano still the official Boss?
Okay thanks. I am most interested in when the change happened and how. Like as soon as Massino came out as a rat he was instantly not boss anymore...so Vinny was acting but they had no official. Then, how long after that was Mancuso made boss. I am guessing they held a captains vote or something like that.OlBlueEyesClub wrote:Fughedaboutit wrote:Is there an article or anything stating this? Re: Is Basciano still the official Boss?
When it came out that Massino was an informant Basciano was no longer the Acting Boss as he was in prison. The family was being run by a ruling panel if I'm not mistaken by then. Mancuso may have even taken over as Acting Boss by then. Not exactly sure on the timeline.
