Re: PRESENT DAY muisc and mafia connection
Look at the current state of the music biz. As .B pointed out, you can record a passable record using a simple mic, and a laptap. Add in a few programs and a couple of effects, and you can literally make a hit record sitting at your computer. Money isn't made through album sales, therefore labels have little incentive to back an artist like they once did. In case you haven't noticed, take Hip-Hop for example, the only artists who get real label support are the independent artists who decided to sign a major contract with a major record company, the labels back them because they already had a fanbase prior to the big label coming along. Labels can make a lot more money off the touring , hit singles, radio play, itunes (and others like it) purchases, etc from those types of artists. I can't see any wiseguy, wanting to even deal with record labels these days. The market simply isn't the same. I think there is absolutely zero involvement or connections between the mafia & music industry. The only "gangsters" getting involved and sometimes profitting from the music biz, are the dealers who start up their own independent labels using drug money and recruiting artists and talent from within their neighborhoods and elsewhere.

Re: PRESENT DAY muisc and mafia connection
This is my last two cents i will ever put out about this subject....
But after being involved on the MUSIC SIDE i see what everyone is talking about...
Its sad really... I feel the whole hip hop industry is straight up the new aged mafia...
After interviewing like.... 10 artists.... I was accused of being a informant and all crazy stuff... Stuff that was completely un founded and just crazy.... After that i realized there really is a underground secret organization going on...
And then, its gonna sound crazy, i actuslly started getting so paranoid bc i felt everyone was after me! Bc id do a interview that morning and by night the person didnt like me for whatever reason....
Anyways... Upon hearing all these stories of death and drugs and jusy pure sorrow... I came to the conclusion that it definitely wasnt the scene for me.... But it really made me think about lcn. Becaue the music business is almost as dangerous, if not worse then the drug game.

I really think you are 100% correct.
In my experience at least.
