It didn't come out that Chucky Porter was cooperating until his lawyers went to the U.S. Attorney's office in 1999 with the request of a sentence reduction. Mike stopped making guys after Henry in 1989, coincidentally, the same year Chucky Porter and Lou Raucci were indicted. And Mike made Henry to take over for Chucky. If Mike truly wanted to, The Genovese Family in NYC would have okayed it considering he lost top guys to prosecution...but it was more $$$ for Mike Genovese and that's all he cared about. They actually froze membership in 1989 when an affadvit came out that Phil Leonetti was the next mob star witness. The collapse of Youngstown didn't happen until 1999, a decade after Porter was indicted.
So jcb1977 Pittsburgh family died because Mike Genovese stop making guys (but there was people to made ?) for the money and not because NY put a freeze ? Wasnt stupid to do this choice ?
In a nutshell Furio, YES. Cleveland, Buffalo, Scranton, Milwaukee and several other smaller crime families just stopped making guys. When high profile guys started to cooperate in record numbers after the 1985 Commission Case, crime families began to only keep guys around they completely trusted. Mike Genovese trusted very few of the newer guys. It wasn't only Pittsburgh. Most of the smaller families began to die off because of attrition.

That's what I was asking you, which source you read that from. My source was a conversation with Roger Greenbank and many other conversations with Mike Genovese Jr. 1989 was the last time they had a formal making.

And I'm telling you... Idk it may have been something I read on a board or whatever I don't have one... I understand that the last making ceremony was in 89 which you have also posted was 87... I was under the impression that the official freeze from ny came in 99 after it was revealed that strollo and Porter were cooperating

And it came to my attention after I posted 1987 from Friend of Henry about Zebo getting made. And it was private.
1986-Chucky Porter and Sonny Ciancutti
1987-Joey Naples & Lenny Strollo
**And I have corrected myself and posted that it came to be known that Zebo did get made in 1989 (although he never wanted it).
That's all I was asking is where you heard that from. Nothing more, nothing less. The only reason Zebo agreed to be made was because he was in charge of overseeing Youngstown and Mike knew Lenny wouldn't take orders from somebody who wasn't made and they had alot of money and time in the All American Club Casino that was just busted. Henry was the only guy on earth that Brenie the Jew was afraid of and Bernie was running the All American Club Casino...and taking in $20 million net profit a year. After the FBI raid, it was $$$ not being cut up and a huge loss. Joey Naples was a "very silent" narcotics trafficker but Lenny wouldn't get into the narcotics. Joey was working the very early 1980's with Capo Joe Gallo in Cleveland before he went to prison. Naples continued to supply narcotics through several emissaries in Youngstown through the Pittsburgh connection...but was never present or directly involved with the changing of supply or cash in any transaction. When Porter got indicted, needless to say the pipeline of coke stopped because Gesuale was on the run in Jamaica and Ramon Sosa was locked up awaiting trial.

Absolutely...that's the fun part of this shit is learning new information and connecting the dots. Friend of Henry opened up a whole new avenue for me and coincidentally, he knew or knows quite a bit of my family so our friendship has come pretty naturally. For example, prior to meeting Friend of Henry, I always was looking for information on Zebo but there was nothing out there. I dated Zebo's daughter from 1996-1998, we split up amicably about 4 months before Zebo died and we remain very friendly today. I NEVER knew anything about Zebo except that he was "a high ranking associate" but FOH opened up Pandora's box for me. It's okay to be wrong sometimes Phat, I've been wrong a thousand times...and then people like FOH are able to paint a better picture.

New information comes out or A new person comes forward or A poster comes up with something. everyone has been wrong A million times and I have talked with former players who didnt know certain things . Everyone has there own perspective in many cases the wiseguys themselfs were kept in the dark for example Angelo LOnardo didnt know the main details about the skim until he become underboss. That is when Rockman explained it to him. And he was A high ranking member for years

Second hand to a point. Point being that Henry personally told me about why and when he was made. He was dying from cancer and his only hope was an expensive bone-marrow transplant. Up until then, he always refused to be made because of the attention that was paid to made men by the Feds. He may have been right about the Feds as he felt that they kept moving him down the list donor for his transplant surgery.

Many people at the end of the road will open to certain things they wouldnt have otherwise. the feds probably justified moving him down the list I could seee "fuck this wiseguy" give it to someone more deserving. Probably wasnt to hard to convince the people in charge of the list

Sad but true Obviously I viewed Henry as my older, wiser brother. He kept me out of trouble for decades. I firmly believe that Lanny would have never "Ratted" had Henry lived. I'm afraid Henry would have had a very negative reaction to Lenny rolling on Bernie.

When you think about it, a lot of street guys have got to be the worst sources of information in the world. Other than the tiny slice of life they are involved in, they hang out with dishonest, low intelligence people all day.

Absolutely! What good info could possibly come from "street guys" All the best LCN info comes straight from Wikipedia

Seriously you get enough street guys talking and drinking and you will find out a lot that they didn't mean to tell you...

I totally agree. Not to mention sitting around a breakfast, lunch or dinner table with more than a couple made men (Boss, Under-Boss, Consigliere and soldiers) for a couple of decades what you're able to learn. But what the hell, what would they know
