Suspect arrested in the murder of L&B Spumoni Gardens pizzeria owner Louis Barbati

Detectives have arrested a man for the murder of Louis Barbati, the owner of Brooklyn’s famed L&B Spumoni Gardens pizzeria, officials said Thursday.

The suspect, identified by law enforcement sources as Andres Fernandez, was picked up by the FBI and was expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court Thursday, police sources said.

Since the murder, police had been focusing on a man caught on surveillance video near Barbati’s Dyker Heights home shortly before the pizza king’s June 30 shooting death, sources said.

It wasn’t clear if that was the same person in custody Thursday.

Well it's possible nowadays that they get a low level associate and he goes out and hires a Nobody - Crack Head - Minority (Meaning Non Italian). So if the guy does identify the Associate it no great loss to the organization. Pure conjecture and speculation.

If he was sent to hit the pizza guy by anyone in O.C. and was caught on film knowing he is going to get pinched or high risk of getting pinched they would have clipped him already so he can't give up the people.. so either the mob has zero to do with him or the guys who sent him are pure dogs, first for sending a puerto rican to do work for them , then not clipping him after he screws up and shows his face on a hit.

This is no surprise. The Geonovese family recently used 2 Crip members for a hit (that didn't get off the ground). The Luccheses also used a ****### on a hit a few years ago. I haven't really been following Montreal but haven't they been using Hatians for some of their murders?

The less people involved in a murder the better. When you start hiring junkies or anyone for that matter it's just one more person you have to worry about talking. This was utterly fucking so stupid. Get some crack head who probably had drug induced schizophrenia to do a hit in broad daylight with his face not even covered and have video footage of him leaving in the getaway car... if it really was a mob hit which it obviously was cause he got picked up by Organized crime task force...
