I believe JD was referring to Joe Cammarano Jr. as being made in the early/mid 90s.

That would make more sense. His post didn't include Sr. or Jr. so I assumed it was Sr.Pogo The Clown wrote:I believe JD was referring to Joe Cammarano Jr. as being made in the early/mid 90s.

I have a relative who plead guilty to a white collar crime and served two years in FCI, Loretto. During his stay there he became "friendly" with Nicky Santora, Peter Calabrese and Nicky Corozzo. He's now been out a couple years but according to my relative, a few weeks ago he was visited by the FBI at his house. The conversation supposedly went like this.
FBI: "We know you roomed with Nicky Calabrese in Loretto"
My relative: "yeah so what"
FBI: "We have reason to believe he's the boss of the Bonnanos now and were wondering if you could give us any information"
My relative: "Get the fuck off my porch"
It ended like that. I'm just relaying what my relative told me. I don't post about stuff I don't know so this is a first for me. Please don't shoot the messenger.

On the 1988 Bonanno chart, a John Joseph Campanella is ID'd as a member. Obviously there is a discrepancy between this guy being made vs. when Joseph J. "Beans" Campanella was possibly made, but I wonder if there is a connection.JD wrote: Re Joe Beans, there's an article online about the Antico case that mentions "Bonanno family figure 'Joe Beans' Campanella". It's on the SI Live news site. Also an obituary for someone with that name and nickname from 2007. Only non-google info I've seen is some Gambinos meeting with a 'Beansy Campanale' in Fall 1986.

Someone asked about the back story on the Ligammari double suicide. First of all, the feds and much of LE didn't buy the story. No interviews of family locally, and no investigation before the pronouncement of suicide. But you can tie it to what was going on at the time. The father was under intense suspicion from LCN. He was one of the guys who got short time after being convicted in the Pizza Connection case, or else he would not have been out. Those short-timers were dropping like flies around the city. One was a Lino I believe.
Re: Bonanno Info (1980s - 2000s)
Lino, actually, was pursued but never charged, same as Sciascsi and LoPresti.
Re: Bonanno Info (1980s - 2000s)
If it was a legit double suicide the only reasoning I could consider is that it was some kind of honor thing, or they were in serious financial trouble together. There was apparently an open bottle of whiskey near their bodies, so you have to factor that in as well.
Ligammari still did a solid prison bid -- sentenced to 15 years and did somewhere around a decade I believe. He wasn't one of the bigger players either, so I would be surprised if they felt he was suspicious in all of this. Their deaths have all the markings of some weird zip angle.
Sciascia's death brought out some serious emotions in people... Baldo Amato bawling in front of his underboss about it, Massino going as far as to reach out to lower-ranking members to make sure there wouldn't be any issues/retaliation, etc. The Ligammaris were close to Sciascia, so maybe they were just incredibly sad about his murder, haha...

Certainly reasonable people could differ in trying to assess what happened.

I cant find the topic where we were comparing gotti and massino relarionship.
I found this to be interestinf tho:
When massino was om the lam for the three capos hit, it was ruggerio who got massino the lawyer he had during that time period. Just thought that was Interestinf that Angelo ruggerio and prob gotti, knew where he was hiding out in the poconos mounraibs

Wasn't Caesar Gurino a heroin guy? Anthony's brother rightJD wrote:Tommy (Las Vegas) mentioned previously as a made guy is Thomas Ferreri.
Another member is Johnny Phones LNU, last name starts with a 'C' and might be something like Colucci/Carlucci.
Both believed still alive. [SSDI entry re Ferreri (DOD 2004) is not him]
Gambino: Caesar Gurino is made and might have been a captain at some point.
Lucchese: Gerry Del Sorbo included on a proposal list c. 1991. Others listed were all later made (Cappello, Gioia, Tortorello). Someone with this name was convicted on drug charges in Manhattan during the early 1980s.

And 180 members according to Sciacca in the mid-1960s. If 190 is actually the cap, you have to wonder why not 200 or a more obvious number.

Great find JD. So it does look the Bonannos were pretty close in size to the Gambinos during this time period (and probably still are).
