I'd say out of the smaller families Cleveland / Pittsburgh are very interesting, Kansas City, and Milwaukee along with St. Louis also have some very colorful characters that provide for a good read !

KC is certainly an interesting family. One that may or may not be around. I can't say the same for STL or Milwaukee

Cleveland and the Irish-Italian crews remind me of a smaller version of New England

Cleveland at its height was very similar in size to New England. Probably a bit smaller, but not by much.
