Ex-mob boss 'Cadillac Frank' Salemme arrested, charged with murder
Published August 10, 2016
Associated Press
BOSTON – Former New England Mafia boss Francis "Cadillac Frank" Salemme has been arrested in the murder of a federal witness, prosecutors said Wednesday.
A document filed in court said Salemme is charged with the murder of a witness on May 10, 1993, but it does not name the witness.
However, another former high-ranking member of the New England mob was charged in June with lying to federal officials about the May 1993 killing of Boston nightclub manager Steven DiSarro. Robert DeLuca's indictment said he arranged with Salemme to have DiSarro's body buried in Rhode Island.
Salemme was indicted in 2004 for denying knowing anything about DiSarro's killing while negotiating a plea deal in 1999. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The indictment alleged that Salemme and his son had a hidden interest in DiSarro's nightclub, The Channel.
Salemme, who headed the Patriarca crime family in the early 1990s, has previously denied a claim by another mobster that he watched his son strangle DiSarro and helped dispose of his body. Salemme's son died in 1995.
Salemme, now 82, is expected to appear in U.S. District Court on Wednesday afternoon.
His attorney, Steve Boozang, said he did not have details on the specific allegations against Salemme.
"We'll vigorously fight these charges," Boozang said. "Knowing he's a fighter, he'll be very involved in his defense."
Prosecutors said Salemme was arrested in Connecticut. The charge against him carries a sentence of death or life in prison on conviction. Prosecutors have not said whether they will seek the death penalty.
DeLuca was among the mobsters captured on an FBI tape being inducted into La Cosa Nostra in 1989 during a ceremony in Medford, Massachusetts.
DiSarro's remains were found behind a mill building in Providence in March.

If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....
Re: Caddilac Frank arrested
All these old murders came back to haunt all these guys.. Even the guys who ratted ! lol. Seems the only murders they got away with were the ones from the 60s and 70s. Deluca was recently indicted? I thought he was in WPP ?

Another moron. He should have just copped to it when he flipped since he would have gotten a free pass on it. Now he is screwed.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

I think he was afraid they would give him 10yrs for the murder. There is no guarantee of a free pass on murder.Pogo The Clown wrote:Another moron. He should have just copped to it when he flipped since he would have gotten a free pass on it. Now he is screwed.

Re: Caddilac Frank arrested
Well he had already done allot of time. Guess he didn't want to go back. Funny he did all that time only to be released as an informant because of all those old murders popping up. Only to lie and get jammed up again. Just like Caddilac Frank. Now that Frank has been caught in a lie will his prior testimony of old cases be in jeopardy?JCB1977 wrote:Sounds like Bobby Cigar was a pussy afraid of the can?

If I were any of the defendants who were sent to prison based of Salemme's testimony, I'd be scrambling for an appeal based off of a non-credible source

Former La Cosa Nostra boss, family associate indicted in connection to murder of South Boston club owner
By Michelle Williams
September 2, 2016
A former boss of the New England La Cosa Nostra family and a family associate have been indicted on federal murder charges.
Frank "Cadillac" Salemme and Paul Weadick have been indicted on one count of murder of a federal witness.
The indictment alleges that 23 years ago Salemme and Weadick killed Steven A. DiSarro to prevent him from communicating with federal law enforcement officials.
DiSarro owned South Boston nightclub "The Channel." His remains were found buried behind mill buildings in Providence this year.
Salemme, 83, appeared in federal court to face the charge on August 10. He entered the courtroom smiling at his lawyer and greeting Fred Wyshak, a longtime federal prosecutor, like an old friend. "Fancy seeing you here," he told Wyshak. He denied the charges.
Weadick, 61, was arrested Friday morning and will appear U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Donald. L. Cabell in Boston this afternoon.
The United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts believes Salemme was the boss of the New England La Cosa Nostra during the early 1990's until his indictment for racketeering in 1995 and conviction in 1999.
