I have to agree when it comes to Cali. He's filthy rich. Same goes for the Gambino Bronx faction. Most of those guys are millionaires many times over and are able to show it because of their legitimate interests. Guys like Merlino and Mazzone are living for the day. They don't care about setting money aside or any of that. Spend it today cuz you're going to jail tomorrow is the philosophy of many of these guys. Look at that Bonanno guy, Nicky Santora. He can't even scrap together money for bail. Sad as hell.Rocco wrote:Its a crowded area. Lucchese and Genovese have active sports books in Philly and South Jersey for at least the last 20yrs. N Jersey Lucchese crew took in 2.2 billion in bets in 15mos. That's probably more then Philly took in after 5 +yrs. Philly is Philly. They never were huge but they survive amongst NY. I don't think they have ever had a Sports Gambling bust that had a huge revenue but its enough for them. Plus you cant tell what guys are making by how they are living. They have to appear to be living a middle class existence. If they were all driving around in white convertible Rolls Royces they wouldnt exist because they all would be in jail..... The wealthiest guys have legit businesses that do very well... well enough for them to live like they are rich without fear of the IRS and FBI knocking down there door for tax evasion. Guys like Frank Cali do it right. Guy is loaded ...legit. Never mind his criminal proceeds. Cali is LCN.Five Felonies wrote:it seems like from the outside looking in that most of these philly guys are living moderately comfortable middle class lives, not really too far off from most guys in other surviving families around the country. granted, with the huge # of members in nyc, there's going to be some serious players but i never got the impression that most of the ny guys were extremely wealthy either. philly's a big sports town with a large population and seeing how gambling is their #1 money maker i'd imagine plenty of guys are making a decent living. even the north jersey crew, while not on the scale of the ny crews operating in the area, have had a pretty decent gambling operation going for quite a while.

From the phillyvoice articleBruno187 wrote:Wow....I hadn't seen that.johnny_scootch wrote:That last article said the witness owned the 'Yonkers Club' and was under Parrello. Any Bronx guys have an idea who that might be?
The guy who ran the Yonkers club was Anthony Zinzi, one of the ballsiest guys to ever come out of Belmont. Hard to believe it would be him. He was indeed Patsy's number 2 though. He should have been made years ago, but had problems with junk going back over the years and multiple convictions for it. Almost unbelievable.
Now, as I'm thinking about this, there was another guy who was Zinzi's partner back in the 80's who moved down to Fla not too long ago....I'm not sure if he had the Yonkers Club at any point, but it would make more sense than Zinzi going bad. Plus Zinzi was named in the indictment.
The cooperating witness has not been identified, but based on government filings it appears Merlino and his co-defendants would have little trouble figuring out who it is.
The witness has been identified as the former owner of the Yonkers Club, a mob-linked illegal casino that operated under the auspice of Genovese crime family capo Pasquale “Patsy” Parrello. The government memo also contends that Parrello “approved” the witness’ move from New York to Florida where he began working with Merlino.

Rocco I remember the case you are talking about. Had to do with swindling antique dealers and stealing antique Tiffany stained glass.
It's not the same immediate bunch of Zinzi's. While it's a relatively uncommon name, it very well might be a wacked out cousin or something.
Anthony Zinzi had one brother, Joe, who passed away a couple of years ago. As opposed to Anthony, Joe was a very dedicated and selfless member of the area who worked for C.O.B.O. or Council of Belmont Organizations...they did a lot of worthwhile things like working with the elderly, providing affordable housing, running the youth-services in the neighborhood etc.
After he passed, they re-dedicated the corner of Arthur Avenue and 187th street as Joe Zinzi Place.

Johnny Cakes ...?Bruno187 wrote:Chucky wrote:Detention Memo Info
Parrello’s dangerousness and appetite for violence is well-documented. In connection with Parrello’s attempt to have members of his crew collect a debt from Victim-1, during a consensually recorded conversation Parrello stated, in sum and substance: “You get Buddy [Torres] and let Buddy go there and choke him [Victim-1], choke him. I want Buddy to choke him, choke him, actually choke the motherfucker…and tell him, ‘Listen to me…next time I’m not gonna stop choking… I’m gonna kill you.’”
Parrello further stated, “go ahead, get this motherfucker. Don’t make a mistake. Get your fuckin’ money.”
In yet another example of his viciousness, in connection with the conspiracy to assault Victim-6 in retaliation for the stabbing of Genovese associate Vazzano, in a consensually recorded conversation, Parrello instructed an uncharged co-conspirator, in sum and substance, to “keep the pipes handy and pipe him, pipe him, over here [on the leg], not on his head.”
Upon Merlino’s conclusion of supervised release on or about September 6, 2014, he began working in earnest to rebuild the Philadelphia Crime Family.
Throughout the investigation, Merlino has been captured on recordings supervising a number of individuals,
questioning whether certain associates were “rats,” collecting illegal gambling debt, and engaging in a fraud against health insurers and conducting at least one sit-down to resolve a debt connected to the health care fraud.
At various times during the pendency of the conspiracy, UC-1 served as one of O’Nofrio’s drivers and as a trusted associate and therefore captured hundreds of hours of inculpatory conversations involving O’Nofrio and others.
For example, in a consensually recorded conversation, O’Nofrio told UC-1 that when “that guy” (referring to co-defendant Conrad Ianniello) went to jail (on a conviction in the Eastern District of New York) that O’Nofrio would be in charge. O’Nofrio explained that Ianniello said to O’Nofrio, “I’m going to put you at the helm … I want you acting boss. I already told them, I want you. I had to go meet certain guys. First time I met them. They said he [Ianniello] wants you.” In or about August 2014, during a consensually recorded conversation O’Nofrio explained that he was planning on proposing co-defendant Ralph Santaniello to get made.
O’Nofrio has used threats of violence to collect debts. For example, in August 2014, O’Nofrio and CW-1 discussed co-defendant Agostino Camacho’s gambling debts to O’Nofrio. CW-1 stated that Camacho was scared of O’Nofrio, and O’Nofrio responded, “Good…guess what, he better be…I don’t play.” In the same conversation, with respect to another loan, O’Nofrio explained that he gave “John” $10,000 “to put on the street 4-5 years ago,” and that John still owed O’Nofrio $5,300. O’Nofrio said that a debtor did not pay John, and that John is supposed to go and “crack the guy’s fucking head” to get the money. Similarly, in July 2015, CW-1 met with O’Nofrio and discussed Camacho’s debt. O’Nofrio said that if Camacho did not pay, O’Nofrio would “hit [him] in the head with a fucking hammer.” O’Nofrio was also involved in arranging sales of untaxed cigarettes.
There you go....
Veiled within the last paragraph is the identity of CW-1.
The guy I was thinking about who moved down to Florida is named Johnny.

It has been confirmed that the SprInfield Crew no longer has its own Capo and now answers to the Ianniello Crew.

‘Skinny Joey’ Merlino due in Florida court today on Mafia charges
The flamboyant alleged head of the Philadelphia Mafia family is scheduled to be in a Florida court Friday to determine whether he should be held without bond and sent to New York City to face racketeering charges.
Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino, 54, is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge in West Palm Beach on charges that he was part of a health care fraud scheme where conspirators got corrupt doctors to bill insurers for unnecessary and excessive prescriptions for expensive compound creams in exchange for kickbacks.
