Staino was kicked out of local 54 in '91, not long before shit hit the fan with Merlino and Stanfa, so maybe it was right after that where linked up Merlino and his people? But yeah he's been around a while. He must have had some relationship with Scarfo's people given who his uncle was and his position in local 54.

Yeah, not sure what his relationship is/was like with his uncle and whether it helped his standing. Junior Staino was almost a constant source of petty trouble in the 1980s even after everyone went to prison and not a word has been said about him since he got out of prison. It seems that Scarfo took Staino's side in his beef with the Grandes, though. Despite being a troublemaker it seems like Staino had respect for being an unshakable hoodlum.

Well Mazzone was laying low outside of that christmas party shit, he's had only been out of prison for three years by that point and was on supervised release the whole time. I thought it was shit because somehow Nicodemo, who ended up burying himself, wasn't pinched when he was making more moves than anybody and was throwing his weight around everywhere, even the burbs.

even the burbs? what was he doing shaking everyone down or selling coke?

Cheech, he also had things going on in Delaware (seems like everybody has a hand in that pot) and Bucks county, I know he had a nice book going on there. I know he was involved in coke, but I'm not sure if that extended into the burbs too.

It was a philly thing bc of the pagans club down there but heroin is pa's bread and butter on the western side there is barely any meth at all
