18 Genovese crime family members arrested in sweep, Feds say

Eighteen members of the Genovese crime family — one of New York’s most notorious organized crime syndicates — were charged Thursday with a host of crimes including conspiracy to commit murder, federal officials said.

Robert Debello (aka “Old Man”), Steven Pastore, Ryan Ellis (aka “Baldy”), Salvatore Delligatti (aka “Jay” or “Fat Sal”), Luigi Romano (aka “Louie Sunoco”) and Betram Duke (aka “Birdy”) were among those arrested in the law enforcement sweep, which was carried out in Nassau County and New York City, officials said.

FBI agents, NYPD detectives and members of the Nassau County Police Department all participated in the operation, federal officials said.

The eight-count indictment also charges the reputed mobsters with racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, operating an illegal gambling business and illegal use of firearms, officials said. The charges stem from the Genovese family’s alleged involvement in a racketeering scheme carried out between 2008 and 2016, court records show.

It took eight years to build this case? Isnt that kinda long for today's standards?

Also it didnt mention anything like then being Capos or crew boss or whatever term they like to use to show that its a important bust... So im assuming no one big was busted

Sloppy headline. 18 Genovese members? Actually 2 made guys - both soldiers - and 2 others specifically cited as associates. Plus 14 others.
All roads lead to New York.

Well, the general public and the journalists who write articles intended for them don't use "member" in the precise technical sense we do, so this sort of thing is pretty common. In the same way, they will refer to soldiers as "kingpin" or "mob boss" or whatever.
Cuz da bullets don't have names.
