Traditionally the Mafia and HA in Montreal have always maintained good relationships, especially during the Rizzutos tenure, this for several years.
I would be quite surprised that a feud bursts out between the two organizations.
Each of them has nothing to gain from trench warfare as the Montreal mafia has experienced in recent years.
They came very close to a war because Giordano was trying to kill Cazzetta like you said. He was seemingly still on good terms with the round table and I wonder if they were aware of his plans. It could be that he was taken out to prevent a war with the Hells Angels.
Was Cazzetta warned about the plot to kill him before or after Giordano's murder?

Yes.
But was he warned before or after Giordano's murder? If it was before he might have struck first.

Of course I have no info like most of the time with Montreal, but if I had to guess I would say before. I'd say he could have showed his hand once they gave him 25% of that book "if" that's true as well.
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....
More charged in Montreal Mafia case, including Liborio "Pancho" Cuntrera, who is said to have been on a ruling committee with Leonardo Rizzuto after Vito's death.
